"French beauty group Chanel has elected Gallic filmmaker Jean-Pierre
Jeunet, of Amélie fame, to direct its next television ad for
emblematic fragrance Chanel N°5. The ad, which is scheduled for
worldwide release in 2009, will star French actress Audrey Tautou,
who rose to stardom following her role in Amélie and also worked
under Jeunet’s direction in a subsequent feature-length film, A Very
Long Engagement.
The new campaign marks Chanel’s second in a series of ads paying
homage to great directors and their fetish actors—in 2004 the brand
released a campaign conceived by director Baz Luhrmann (Moulin
Rouge) and starring Australian actress Nicole Kidman."
