Starched and ironed services with collar tabs (stays) in US (my Boston) are
nothing extravagant and service is reasonably priced. Shoeshine as well...
But quality wardrobe, that I would wear, tends to be pricey. Shirts can be $25
and up, good shoes ~$200+, unless you catch a sale - $165. Cedar wood shoetrees
(prawidla) are a must @ $25/pair, unless you desire to look like a bum.
Remember: quality shoes are an investment.
You never, ever, wear same pair in a roll. I have seven pairs + rain/snow
galoshes, that go over shoes, winter boots and one pair of sneakers.
Cuff links and tie clips or chains come in wild variety.
Suits are not to be bought at a shabby shop, they can and are quite expensive,
so you may join preferred customer store club. Alterations are a must, since
trousers are not length finished.
Ties are as many as one may dream of. Silk only, please! Learn different tie
knots, don't be a schmuck. Since tie may strangle some of you, buy shirts half a
size larger. New shirts must be laundered, they might shrink a little, so extra
half an inch in the collar will be a salvation...mark my word.
Back to shoes; every so often take them to a shoe shine shop for a saddle soap
bath and shine!
So much for now.
