    Venus,

The other guy is right - I have never heard "attend" in the meaning of being a
student of some educational institution. Unfortunately, the referenced
dictionary entry does not support your point of view at all: to be present, to
appear, to frequent, etc. is not exactly the same as to study at/to be student
    of.

Yes, there is Canadian flavour of English but spelling of some words
like "honour","colour", etc. is in fact English. Canadians just stick to the
    original. They haven't invented it.

    >>Gee, you really reek of modesty!<<
    I wrote the TRUTH!!

I never said I was perfect (well..I am, but that's whole other subject), but
I am at least living in English speaking country long enough to tell apart
polish english from english english. And I don't read polish books, I read in
english. I have contact with the language. At least SOME!! and not just
    everyday street language.

And while I make no claims to know English english perfect, I KNOW that even
with my 3 !! (minor) mistakes, I wrote a decent translation.
Of course, someone who is just studying English in Poland has no way to know
    the difference.
And thinks that "She is this, she is that, she goes here" etc. at the
beginning of every sentence is the proper way.
    It's a polish way!
While the other translation was quite correct albeit with mistakes as well,
    mine is just different.
It doesn't mean that my is, as some moron said, complete nonsense.
After all you DO KNOW what I am talking about, don't you?
First, learn english perfect yourself, then criticize!

    I don't think "She is this, she is that, she goes here" is the proper way;
personally, I think it sounds horrible... but we were asked to TRANSLATE, not
to edit the whole Polish thing (which isn't written well, may I add), so I
decided to stick to the original version!

If search the Net really hard, you'll always find some source to support your
point, even as serious as some high school in Skokie, Illinois, hehehe (BTW,
AFAIK Skokie is some kind of American Wachock). For your second source -
sorry, your kid is not going to become my English oracle any time soon, hehehe.

I checked two sources, one of them being www.webster.com and yes, it confirms
your point. On the other hand, a serious British English dictionary provides
explanation of "attend" only in the meaning I mentioned, so my feelings are
mixed. Therefore I admit that you were somewhat right. I'll keep that in the
back of my mind, however abstaining personally from the "attend" use you
presented. It sounds kind of artificial to me.

P.S. Could you place your posts directly under the posts of the person you
reply to? That would make threads easier to read. TIA

The link was provided to show you I didn't make it up.

It doesn't matter if this is Canada or USA. It's there.

And if you think a native teenager can not know if they use that phrase at

    Hi Venus, I'm with ya!
I attended a certain high school in Canada and then a certain university, and
saying that one attends these institutions is perfectly OK. In everyday,
simple language I'd probably say /ask: which school do you go to?, but in a
more formal situation I'd definitely say: which school do you attend?, thus
avoiding the "to" preposition at the end of the sentence which all hyper-
grammarians know is bad, bad, BAD English ;)
    Cheers.

    >>>only translated it wrong to english because Peter works at constraction
company he isn't a constratcion worker he works at that company how do you
    know he is a constraction<<

    First of all :"to english"????
    however,
that is about the only one constructive criticism I've encountered so far.
Indeed, in my haste to translate I did changed the meaning - but remember I
did it under two minutes, whereas the author said "it's gonna take me all
evening." or night, who cares. Can't remember what everybody else writes.

However, it still doesn't mean my English is bad.
    I simply made a MISTAKE!!!

whereas you, "the expert", forgot to add an "a " in the: >>Well maybe we are
bunch of losers < -a- bunch of losers!, and your next sentence is completely
    without any sense and integrity!!
    just read it yourself:

    >>not only translated it wrong to english because Peter works at constraction
company he isn't a constratcion worker he works at that company how do you
know he is a constraction ?
( I know he is not a constraction, because I know Peter is a human not a place
    or a company)
<< "not only", but what else? haven't you forgot to add something??

You know... I am not at all convinced you are an english professor....
english professor who suck at english??
    .. may happen...

    >> cleanning << excuse me, shouldn't that be cleaNing???

    >> Don't be so proud of you english<< it's at least better than youRs..

    >>I also lived in english<< hmmm... sounds broken to me..

    hahahahahahahahha, and look at this:
    >>thought english in France<< anybody can think in english in France if they
    wish..

    >>I can bet that your accent just
like most poles accent sukcs << should be: *Poles*, *sukcs*, accent used two
    times unnecessarily..
accent-yes, of course- where do you see me claiming my perfect accent????

    and the last
    >> must give poles credit though their accent is
so bad sometimes my ears hurt but they speak good english using rich
vocabulary so don't be so proud of yourself because only one loser at this
forum is you !<< *Poles* one time could be a typo, but TWO?!
know what, ""professor"".. my eyes hurts when I read you crap.

You suck and you know it.

Before the only real English language speaking person here, Wannabekiwi,
(thanks again!!) backed up my using "She attends high school" version, I've
asked my canadian born -English only, friend if what I wrote was correct.
    here is what she wrote.

"I would never say that I attended high school - though it is absolutely
correct - but I might write it.".

"If you're talking, you'd say "She goes to high school."

If you're writing, you can also say that she goes to high school, but if you
want to be formal, you'll say she attends it."

    and
" A person who goes to university to learn it will learn a different, more
formal language than the person who learns it on the street. "

    pay particular anttention to this:
"A person who goes to university"..

..."learn a different, more formal language"

    So, who's "cleanning" toilets now??

No truer words could be said.

that's exactly what had flamed ME in the first place.

Everybody here behaved (patronized me) like English proffesors, when in fact
during correcting MY mistakes, they were making their OWN.

And every single person here failed to notice that I never in fact attempted
    to make a word-in-word translation.
Please, try to understand - I knew what I was doing,
I simply thought that already Polish version was very "Ona ma to, ona ma
tamto, ona jest, ona, ona ona ona, it was so akward to me (no offence,
    Marta, please).
I just thought that I shall write what will be at least better style -wise,
and if Marta will care at all she may like my version.

I just completely disregarded the fact that she asked for translation of HER
text and wrote my own which by the way wasn't THAT BAD, even if it wasn't a
word for word - as I keep saying.

And I never claimed MY english is perfect.
My rudeness was direct response to everybody's else.

    Simple as that.

And I see you are the ONLY ONE WITH GUTS to admit you weren't quite right and
what impressed me more you APOLOGIZED.

    Hooo-kay.. you asked for it..

As I've said before, you are no match to me.
You think I don't know you have Word Microsoft which fixes your spelling and
some grammar, before you copy and hit this "sent" button.

You think I failed to notice that people like you who jump from forum to forum
looking for an argument, replying off topic, ADHD afflicted and therefore not
able to stay on any anyway, are people who suffer from SPS.
    Small Prick Syndrom.

    Lets backtrack a bit.

The subject of this thread (thread, not posts) is the request for translation.
And where is yours, mm, you ADD prick?

    What's this..:
    >>Yes, there is Canadian flavour of English but spelling of some words
like "honour","colour", etc. is in fact English. Canadians just stick to the
    original. They haven't invented it.<<
    and who asked you, dork?

Did anyone was even remotely interested about
Britsh/American/Canadian "flavors"? or should I say - invented by Bristish but
    used by canadian "Flavours"??
No, but because you have a small prick and no one pays attention to you, you
desperately want to come across as some intelectual (you are, sadly, only a
PSEUDO) and anyway with your ADD you can not stick to the subject.
That's when you started going off.

Then you got yourself into a bit of contradiction, because since it was ME who
insisted "attends" is right, and only came back with multiple! BACK UP's,
obviously I couldn't be "niedouczona". hmm not that I care but just read your
own post, prick. BTW, you've changed subject again.. well..ADD..

Then you tottaly missed the whole point of my links, but, I understand, that's
normal with people suffering from ADD.

And then you went off the topic even further, still unable to produce any
TRANSLATION, since mine was so bad, and thought, you brainless prick for
brain, that I will be insulted by this beautiful piece of stone age art -
    "Venus of Willendorf
    c. 24,000-22,000 BCE"

When I pointed out her value to you, you quickly tucked your tail between your
puny, sagging buttcheeks, and pretended to be the art expert yourself, all of
    a sudden.
later on, you forgot about it (ADD..) and again presented Willendorf Venus as
    something unappetizing.
BTW did you read the whole story, because I did some and I am rather pleased:

"" "subject" of the sculpture is female procreativity and nurture and the
piece has long been identified as some sort of fertility idol.""
    and:
""Such elaborate treatment of hair is extremely rare in Paleolithic figurines,
and the considerable attention paid to it by the sculptor must mean it had
some significance. In later cultures, hair has been considered a source of
strength, and as the seat of the soul. ""
    You stupid prick.. ha..

Then you tried to implied I was kissing butts... It is considered good manners
to acknowledge someone's help, but you wouldn't know about it, would you, you
maggot with ADD, looking for any chance to put other people down -only because
    your prick is small.

Then you got your butt kicked by Salmotrutta and dissapeared, speechless, for
a while, with tail again tucked deeply..

By this time your ADD make you completely forgot it was still about a request
    for translation..

And to top it all off, you thought you are being brilliantly jovial with your
    idiotic "apology".

Soupy Nuisance aka Malenki Czlonek, let me tell you this.

That you have a small prick is simply screaming by now from this one post.

Only a low esteem, undervalued, small pricked maggot would want to make
himself look better by trying to make others look worse.
It's not only visible in this thread, it's in your many other, and everyone
who had a doubtful pleasure to read your posts can see it.

May I add, you were also usually put back to your place quickly and
succesfully.. and with your characteristic cowardly manner, you never come
back - always gone for good with the tail deeply tucked between you non -
    existing balls...

I am not pissed off yet, prick, oh no..
    I am just amused ..

Go back to watching your beloved Seinfeld re-runs (maybe one day you will
understand why everybody else is laughing) , and playing with your prick
hoping as always that one day after all those massages it will get at least
half inch bigger. It still will be better than those 2and half you have now..

    Venus

ps AND STILL I DON'T SEE NO MASTERPIECE TRANSLATION of yours!

I wonder if anybody else is reading this thread. It would be highly regrettable
if nobody noticed and admired my skill in the art of teasing (sigh). OK, let's
    see what happens next.

Uh, Venus (hehehe) remember me recommending you get some medical attention?
Well, on the second thought, I say - don't bother. After all, the only doctor
able to help you is Jack Kevorkian and he's temporarily professionally
    inactive, hehehe.

No, not really, but look here and say it ain't so:

Just wondering - so many occurences of words like dick, prick, etc. in your
posts. Would that indicate subconscious craving for something that you are
    deprived of?

Hmmm, you could always use your old, faithful vibrator? It will never refuse
to fullfil your needs as opposed to so many men. They know that you're not
ugly, you just look that way but the outcome is still the same i.e. none. Just
remember that washed and loaded with batteries it should perform better,
    hehehe.

...not really...but then again...it doesn't appear that Venus needs much to get
her going...so regrettably your inadequate attempt is enough to do the job...

...ps...Keverkian might be out of circulation but there's always good doctor
    Nitschke...

Ah, salmotrutta, my quiet admirer, hehehe!

Don't you try to minimize my well deserved satisfaction! No matter how much it
takes to get her going, I did it (and more than once)s o it's not
an "inadequate attempt" - it's a full blown success story, hehehe. Not that I
    had to
put some extra effort into that, but I'm really glad I teased the old cow girl
    and successfully so, hehehe.

Is this guy your local breed? Tell him to hit the road like we did with Jack,
    hehehe.

Couldn't stand that any more, could you? And I'm still standing, you
frustrated old bag, hehehe. Now, I'll test how long you can ignore me. Check
some other threads you were sweating in, for starters.
