In fact nothing changes at all. At least not a human nature nor economics. We
are back to an old economical cycle (branded by J.M. Keynes in 1935 'a
liquidity trap') that calls for the so called World War. The third one in a
row is about to begin. Whoever wins will become a hero, whoever loses will be
known to our kids as a criminal. History books have to be written again and
again. But we already know who is going to win don't we? At least as long as
the war is short and does no...

Dear John!
Thanks for your last letter! I'm very happy you have remembered about me. I
want to tell you in my letter something about my school and as a metter of
fact about everything what is connected with it.
Recently we have in the school a lot of work. The teachers assign a lot of
homework and I have no time for anything. All the time I learn and read the
books. My mum always says, that I'm responsible for getting good marks and I
must apply myself to learn. She's rigt but i...

I’m sure that it would help me to get rid of my foreign accent, or at least
make it less noticeable, and make me more fluent in speaking.

noticeable" be treated as the additional information...???

THE AMERICAN'S GUIDE TO FRANCE:
France is a medium-sized foreign country situated
in the continent of Europe.
It is an important member of the world community, though
not nearly as important as it thinks.
It is bounded by Germany, Spain, Switzerland and some
smaller nations of no particular importance and
with not very good shopping.
France is a very...

Be wary of loaning money to your Uncle Sam.
Just ask Social Security, where the government has tapped the public nest
egg so deeply that they'll sink or swim together.
As this is written, Social Security (aka Sue) holds more than a trillion
dollars in IOUs from Uncle Sam (aka Sam). Social Security, still trusting
Uncle Sam, is currently telling its clients that its IOU collection (the
Social Security Trust fund) won't be exhausted until 2042.
The important date, however, isn't ...

Ponizej artykul z The Sun o kaczce, potraktowanej lepiej niz
czlowiek. Moje pytania poboczne, bo nie znam sie za bardzo na
kaczkach:
- Czy Daffy jest imieniem tej kaczki? Jesli tak to wszystko tlumaczy
jej przygode (daffy to glupi; stukniety)
- Czy moze jest to ogolna nazwa kaczek tego rodzaju?
-Kaczka ta wyglada na domowa, a napisali, ze zyje na jeziorze. Jest
wiec to domowa, czy dzika kaczka?

I've never seen you looking so lovely as you did tonight
I've never seen you shine so bright
I've never seen so many men ask you if you wanted to dance
They're looking for a little romance, given half a chance
And I have never seen that dress you're wearing
Or the highlights in your hair that catch your eyes
I have been blind
The lady in red is dancing with me, cheek to cheek
There's nobody here, it's just you and me
It's where I want to be
But I hardly know this beauty ...

If this forum is called "English only" why circa 90 % of postings are not in
English ?
There is nothing wrong with making mistakes/errors. It is a part of learning
process. So, I do not understand why correspondents are affraid to use this
language ?
With sympathy

Which one is correct? I would say the first one, because it's what I hear
most, but recently someone corrected me. Was the person right? I wouldn't be
suprised because Americans aren't too concerned when it comes to grammar.

PEACE IN OUR TIME
The Manchester Guardian (1st October, 1938)
[...] Another welcome awaited the Premier [N.
Chamberlain] in Downing Street, which he reached
fifteen minutes later. With difficulty his car moved
forward from Whitehall to No. 10. Mounted policemen
rode fore and aft and a constable kept guard on the
running board of the car.
Every window on the three floors of No. 10 and No. 11
was open and filled with faces. The windows of the
Foreign Office across the way were ...

I've been recently offered a seasonal job in USA (of course illegally) but I
am a bit doubtful about it. First, my earns are going to be unexpectedly
high, which I wasn't prepared for - it means 15 thousand dollars for two
months of everyday (12 hours a day) but reasonably light and pleasant work.
I'd be glad if someone who have worked already in USA imparted his experience
to me and said if this cash isn't suspiciously much. Second, I am afraid of
being arrested for working illeg...
