sunday polityczna poprawność GW... 14.10.04, 09:47 Tak, dzielni "bojownicy Hamasu" polegli w słusznej walce o swoje prawo do wysadzania w powietrze autobusów z dziećmi... Polityczna poprawność GW? Rozumiem, że bin Ladin i Zarkawi też są dzielnymi "bojownikami". No bo cóż dzielniejszego i bardziej wojowniczego, niż odcinanie głów związanym jeńcom?

Podaje za australijskim dziennikiem : www.heraldsun.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5478,11069067%255E1702,00.html Schoolgirl shot dead at desk From correspondents in Beit Lahiya, Gaza Strip 14oct04 THE Israeli army widened its massive operation in the northern Gaza Strip today, as an 11-year-old schoolgirl became one of the latest victims of a fortnight of violence there. Dozens of tanks and bulldozers rolled into the town of Beit Lahiya in the early hours as the focus of Operation Days of Penitence, which has claimed the lives of 118 Palestinians, shifted north from the nearby Jabaliya refugee camp. They flattened several buildings and fields, an AFP correspondent reported, but failed to prevent Palestinian militants from firing more home-made Qassam rockets at Israel. The campaign was condemned by British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, who said Israel was failing to meet its obligation to avoid innocent civilian casualties and humanitarian suffering. Colonel Eyal Eizenberg, commander of the Israeli army's elite Givati infantry regiment, told military radio his troops met significant resistance, including firing from the direction of mosque . "Explosive charges were operated against us and we were also met with anti-tank rockets which hit one of our (armoured) vehicles," he said. "We intend to reduce the Qassam rocket fire at Israel ... I think that we have conveyed this message to the Palestinians over the past two weeks. If this message is not understood, we will intensify our control on the ground." Palestinian sources said two militants were killed by Israeli shelling in Beit Lahiya, adding that they belonged to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, an armed offshoot of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's Fatah movement. And Palestinian security sources had reported overnight that a member of the armed wing of the militant Hamas movement was killed when a helicopter fired a missile in Beit Lahiya. The operation, the deadliest since the start of the Palestinian uprising four years ago, is aimed at putting an end to the firing of rockets from northern Gaza into southern Israel. Two children were killed in the border town of Sderot in late September. Israeli military sources said two Qassams, named after Hamas' armed wing, were fired on Israeli from Beit Lahiya today, without causing casualties. Palestinian Foreign Minister Nabil Shaath, on a visit to Damascus, said Israel was deluding itself if it believed it could crush its enemies. "What is taking place in Palestine is a crime. The acts of (Israeli) aggression, the crimes and assassinations cannot lead to peace and will not force the Palestinian people to bow," he told reporters. For his part, Mr Straw said in a statement he recognised Israel's right to defend itself, and that the "UK unreservedly condemns all acts of terrorism, including the firing of Qassam rockets". "But Israel has an obligation under international law to ensure that its response to terrorism is proportionate to the threat it faces, as well as a duty to avoid innocent civilian casualties and humanitarian suffering. It is not meeting those obligations." He expressed concern for the high death toll, and the number of children killed. Nearly one quarter of the victims have been under the age of 18. Speaking earlier, British Prime Minister Tony Blair pledged to make Middle East peace a "personal priority", but warned that little progress was likely before next month's US presidential election. "There is huge suffering on the Palestinian side, there are also wholly unacceptable acts of terrorism that kill innocent Israeli citizens," he said. Medical sources said today an 11-year-old Palestinian schoolgirl who was wounded by Israeli army gunfire while sitting at her desk in a UN-run school in Gaza had died. Ghadir Mkhemar had been wounded in the chest yesterday when shots were fired into a classroom at her school in Khan Yunis run by the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA). A 10-year-old girl was killed last month after being shot in an UNRWA school in Khan Yunis. The Israeli army said today it had suspended an officer under investigation for allegedly firing repeatedly at a Palestinian schoolgirl who had already been gunned down in southern Gaza last week. An UNRWA spokesman called Mkhemar's death "horrific". "Schools should be havens of peace. Outside the schools, the pace of child deaths in Gaza has been accelerating terribly in recent weeks," he said. Israel is also targeting Hamas' leadership in the West Bank, where one of its most senior commanders was arrested today. Imad Qawasmeh, who has been held responsible by Israel for masterminding a double suicide bombing in the town of Beersheva in August, was picked up in an army operation in the town of Hebron. A Palestinian teenager was shot dead and two others wounded by Israeli army gunfire in the Rafah refugee camp early today, Palestinian medical sources said. And a man wounded by Israeli tank fire in the Jabaliya camp on Monday died of his injuries, hospital sources in Gaza Cit said. A total of 4482 have been killed since the Palestinian uprising broke out, including 3454 Palestinians and 954 Israelis, according to an AFP count.
