Z cosmeticnews.com, pewnie to znaczy, ze dotychczasowy Jil Sander Man bedzie
musial zniknac- a szkoda:
"US company Coty Prestige is positioning its new men’s fragrance for the Jil
Sander franchise as the upscale equivalent to the women’s scent, Style, which
went on sale in September 2006. Jil Sander Man, the first fragrance to be
created under the guidance of Raf Simons who joined Jil Sander fashion as
creative director in 2005, targets the “30-35 year old modern aesthete,”
according to Coty Prestige. Like Style, one of the aims of the new fragrance
is to further internationalize the Sander fragrance business. Currently
around 60-65% of Jil Sander’s fragrance sales come from Germany. This
contrasts sharply to the fashion business, which does 20% of its sales in the
country. UK-based private-equity company Change Capital Partners, which
acquired the Jil Sander brand in February 2006, would like the fragrance
operations to approach this geographical split.
The fashion business, which is recovering after incurring heavy losses under
former owner the Prada Group, is pushing the business in the US and Japan. In
addition, the company is working on building the brand in Russia. The US and
Japan are also set to be important markets for fragrances. Coty Prestige
has ‘cleaned up’ its distribution in the US, and the Style line is now
present in only 55 Saks Fifth Avenue department-store doors in the market.
However, a date has not been set as yet for the launch of the men’s fragrance
there.
In terms of sales objectives, Coty Prestige expects Jil Sander Man to do
around two-thirds of the business of Style, or around €12m. The fragrance
will be supported by a major ad campaign including a TV spot and press. The
campaign was directed by Tho Van Tran of French agency Air.
The aromatic woody scent was created by Thierry Wasser in cooperation with
Annick Menardo (Firmenich). It opens with notes of lavender, bergamot and
violet, has a heart of sage and vetiver and a base of blue cedar and myrrh.
The bottle is composed of two dark blue cubes, and, like its woman
counterpart, was designed by Patrick Veillet.
Jil Sander Man will launch in Europe in September and then roll out to 36
doors in Japan in October. The line includes a 30ml (available from 2008),
50ml and 90ml EdP retailing at €40, €50 and €67 respectively, as well as a
bath range."
