"Global beauty group Coty has inked a deal with compatriot French
fashion brand Balenciaga (PPR) to create and distribute a series of
fragrance lines under the Balenciaga name.
Balenciaga, which until last year held a fragrance licensing deal
with French company Groupe Jacques Bogart, launched debut fragrance
Le Dix in 1946. In a statement announcing the deal, whose terms were
not disclosed, the company said the partnership with Coty would
renew the Balenciaga fragrance name in line with the company’s
heritage. “Coty is the perfect partnership for Balenciaga to re-
express ourselves within the fragrance world,” Balenciaga president
and ceo Isabelle Guichot added.
The Balenciaga fragrance line will join other scent staples in Coty
Prestige’s portfolio, including Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, Chloé and
Jennifer Lopez. “Balenciaga’s meaningful heritage lends itself
perfectly to Coty Prestige’s designer portfolio and represents a
strong strategic collaboration,” Coty Prestige president Michele
Scannavini said. The licensing deal is effective immediately."
