he diesel version of Jaguar's X-Type is on the way - and Auto Express
magazine has the very first picture. Externally, there's no difference to the
car, so how can we tell? Well, it's being filled up with a diesel forecourt
pump...
"The Coventry firm confirmed last month that it would unveil an oil-burner at
the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Its ambitious diesel-development
programme will include an entry-level 2.0-litre unit based on Ford's 115bhp
TDCi, a new 170bhp 2.7 V6 and a flagship V8 that could be shared with Land
Rover and Volvo. The exact size of the V8 hasn't been revealed, but it's
thought to be around 4.0 litres. First to appear will be the 2.7, to be
fitted to the X-Type and S-Type before debuting in the new XJ8. Christened
the XJ-D series, the power- plants will be individually tuned to suit
Jaguar's upmarket appeal."
I to zaledwie 115 KM! Volvo najpierw niech się dorobi benzynowego V8. 2.7 V6
ma być też w Citroenach i Peugeotach.
