500 million complex planned for Warsaw outskirts
Brwinow, a municipality located on the outskirts of Warsaw, has announced plans
to construct a combined conference, shopping and exhibition center worth as
much as $500 million. Initially called Krajowa Brama Gospodarki Warszawa, the
project would consist of a complex of exhibition halls and conference rooms
with the capacity to seat 6,000 people. Hotels, restaurants and entertainment
facilities would also be constructed. Commenting on the plans, local mayor
Maciej Nowicki stressed that Brwinow is the only municipality near Warsaw with
an undeveloped area that is large enough to contain such a facility and that is
also owned by a single entity, in this case the Treasury Office of Agricultural
Property (AWRSP). Brwinow is counting on government support for the project.
According to Rzeczpospolita, the project so far has received positive feedback
from sector insiders, several banks and both foreign and domestic investors.
