How do you see what is going on in America?

IP: *.dynamic.ziplink.net 26.09.01, 00:02
Though I'm of Polish ancestry, I have not been taught to speak Polish; and
so I'm posting this message here to see if English-speakers in Poland
will let me know what they think and feel about the recent - and coming -
events in America. I would appreciate your perspective, as all the
American message boards are posting little except cries for blood.
Thanks - Cody Kinski

I'm a part of polish people in America and my point of view is, that US should
punish the responsibles BUT after they find who it really was. On the other
hand bin Laden must be punished no matter did he participate in the WTC tragedy
or not because trrorism deserves punishment. Even without the evidence he
should be eliminated for his claims against the free world and trying to make
people affraid. No mercy for terrorists. This is not a way of fighting.

      Dear Cody
First of all I'd like to apologise for my broken English. I hope you will not
laugh very much for my mistakes. I'm sure you will smile many times as you'll be
reading my miserable afforts. However I'll try.

I'm a big fan of America as the nation and as the country. I'm very impressed by
your unity, and your vitality. I,'m sure after this hecatomb, USA will be even
stronger and more vital. America was asleep. You did not have clear foreign
politics, did you? You did not have really serious problems (you know - political
correctness, or energy crisis in California are not realy serious problems), did
you? . Now you are awake and awarwe. If the terrorist wanted to keep USA away
they shouldnt attack you. They did realy, really big mistake.
I've some worries: first is the recession. How fast USA will manage upcoming
crisis? Will you trust in Free Market, or will more regulate the economy (i hope
      the first, but who knows...).
Second is about human rights and freedoms. Will you sacrifice big part of your
freedom on the altar of war? If yes the terrorist will win. Because, as said your
president : they atacked Freedom - and I belive he is right.

I live in America and I think she is afraid.
Besides this crying for revenge calls, deep inside,is fear that it can happen
again. Till now it was soothing and indifferent for average Joe to read or
watch some reports about terrorism somewhere in the world, but now that this
terror came to their own backyard they don't know what to do.
They're still in shock and it stay that for a while.
But even after it wears some psychological scars remains ;some say Americans
now take live more seriously, that live is not a Hollywood movie and that
may be the one good thing that came out of this tragedy..

Up to now USA was succesfull bringing war only to other
countries (sometimes rightfully, more often not).
Now it has come to Your country. So beware -
innocent casualties can happen in NYC too.

America have planted terrorism and now is time for harvest. You should expect
that American homeland be never safe again. The limits are broken. There are
two possible reactions for this. One is the China Wall - American Army goes
home and all what is connected with that. This means realtive safety and chance
for survival but it can bee too late for this. You have Barbarians inside - all
this minorities wich would not jump into the Melting Pot - muslims chicanos
chinese and so on - one day this must or explode or they take America
peacefully. Second is - beat the WAR DRUMS - agression and stronger
expansionism. Than will see in coming years (5 - 30?) the fall of Empire, what
can bee dangerous for the rest of the World. From my personal point of view and
my children I would prefere first solution. Besides, look at history - life of
Empire lasts 200 - 300 years. I count from before Secession War so now the end
is close. Russia has finished its Empire life quite nice. America should learn
from them. Keep smiling and dont wait too long with your decisions. :-)(

During the last year's presidential election campaign,
it was underlined many times that Bush lacks competence
in foreign affairs. With a little help of his friends
he was elected and - what else he could do - he hoped
that his drawbacks would not become fatal until he gets
      to fix them. Tough luck.

First, there was this tete-a-tete with Putin, when
Bush truly proved himself a greenhorn. And now, a
knock-down for USA: the terrorists strike and vanish.
Bush has no idea how he should react. He reads the
polls that say American people want blood. They voted
for him because he was just like them, he cannot ignore
      their feelings NOW.

The advisors look somewhat sceptical. They mumble
something about escalation scenarios, about the
clash-of-the-cultures path that needs to be avoided...

But, besides of all, Bush himself is not an exception.
      He wants blood too.

So, America goes to war. For how many years the US
troops will be chasing shadows ? And what will be the
ultimate outcome of this contemporary crusade ? I don't
      even want to guess it.

What I find really terrifying is that Bush seems to be
incapable of any reflection. Does he ever ponder on
what JFK would do ? Or Clinton ? I doubt - these were
God damn democ-rats, they'd probably negotiate or even
worse ! Bush will fight the terrorists with napalm.

And he should fight them with mind.

What were the first steps taken in US warfare
preparation ? 50,000 of reinforcements called in and
200,000 TONES OF OIL BOUGHT at the price of the day.
Bin Laden is our cash cow, said Sheik Yerbutti.

Don't you find it peculiar that - if nothing changes -
for many decades into the new millenium we will be
still driving the gas-propelled cars ? Wake up, it is
not the matter of technology. It is the matter of
      power.

Bush has just been assigned 40 bln USD to run his show
of retribution. Wouldn't it be wiser to spend that
money on endorsement of alternative car propulsion
systems ? Let's not fool ourselves: as long as the very
last drop of oil hasn't been burned, the industry will
never allow alternative propulsion to thrive.

It is the government's role to crush the iron ring of
petrol processing and gas distribution companies, with
majority of car manufacturers in that number as well.
But may we hope for the loyal perpetrator of oil
moguls' petition to stand against his promoters ??? No,
he will stand against some guy in a white gown, and
then another one, and another one...

But I do believe in USA. Finally, the Americans will
change Bush for somebody who values mind over muscle.
