Ostatnio dostalam list od osoby, doktorantki na uniwersytecie w Liverpoolu,
ktora prowadzi obecnie badanie zwiazane z Polakami, ktorzy pracuja w UK oraz
tymi, ktorzy pracowali, ale juz wrocili na stale do Polski. O ile w miare
latwo Samantha zidentyfikowala i 'przebadala' te pierwsza grupe, to o wiele
trudniej znalezc ludzi, ktorzy swa przygode z Uk juz zakonczyli.
I tu dochodze do meritum sprawy - czy znane wam sa osoby, ktore bylyby
sklonne poswiecic troche wolnego czasu i porozmawiac o swoich doswiadczeniach
zwiazanych z praca w UK??? Sek w tym, ze Sammie nie mowi po polsku:(, wiec
musialyby byc to osoby znajace angielski w stopniu komunikatywnym. Sammie
wybiera sie w lipcu do Polski, wiec moglaby odwiedzic swoich respondentow.
Wklejam tutaj list, jaki dostalam od Sammie, w ktorym wyjasnia ona szczegoly
swojego projektu. Mam nadzieje, ze bedziemy w stanie jej pomoc:)
My name is Sammie Currie and I am a PhD student at the University of
Liverpool in the UK. Paulina (moja kolezanka) suggested I contact you as you
may be able to help me with a matter connected to my research. There are 2
phases:
1. My PhD is a socio-legal research project examining the
post-accession migration experience of Polish migrants in the UK. I've been
interviewing Polish migrants in the UK, and
these have gone really well. I have been examining their experiences
of migration and work in the UK and I am analysing how the Workers
Registration Scheme is operating. These respondents have been 'new
arrivals' as I am keen to examine migration following Poland's
accession to the EU in particular.
This phase is ongoing so if you would like to have an informal chat (jesli
ktos jeszcze chcialby wziac udzial w tej czesci badania, to mysle, ze Sammie
nie mialaby nic przeciwko:)with me about your experiences please let me know,
I would appreciate it.
However, I completely understand if you are too busy or would simply rather
not.
2. This is more of an immediate concern so I would really appreciate
some help with this phase! I'm planning to do some fieldwork in Poland and
I am going on July 13 and staying until August 3. What I plan to do in
Poland is to interview some Polish nationals who have returned home after
Poland joined the EU. I would like to interview 10-20 of these 'returnee
migrants'. It doesn't matter whether they moved to the UK before or
after Poland joined the EU, so long as they have returned after 1st May 2004.
I hope that makes sense! I also plan to approach around 5 employment
agencies in Poland and interview some of their advisers who have
assisted Polish nationals with arranging work in the UK/Europe.
I'm thinking of going to both Krakow and Warsaw but I will travel
anywhere I can find somebody who has returned! :o) Unfortunately I do not
speak Polish so I need English-speaking respondents, unless I can arrange for
an interpreter
It is clearly going to be difficult to identify returnees. I wondered
if you had any advice on how I may go about finding my sample of
returnees? Perhaps you know of some people/friends who have gone back home?
I would prefer to have as much as possible arranged before arriving in Poland
but it is proving to be quite difficult! I have contacted my respondents
but they have not been able to find anyone who has returned home yet. If
you are aware of any employment agencies who advice people that would also
be great!
