It's true that the British and other EU citizens aren't really "foreigners" now
in Poland, as far as the theory goes of EU membership. Just like goods taken
from those countries aren't "imports" anymore, but "intracommunity
acquisitions", but since in the "voix du peuple" (that's 'purple voice' in
French, that is) we still are foreigners, that's why I meant to include EU
      foreigners as foreigners.

Welcome to the Forum, btw. Are you living in Warsaw, or some other part of
      Poland?

I am trying to learn Vietnamese and I am having a difficult time with it,
because my materials explain the tones and the letters in an incomprehensible
way. I probably need to hear the words in order to understand what they sound
like, as the description is very confusing.

Do you know anyone from the Vietnamese community who could help me get started
with that? I would pay a good rate, obviously, but I would like a talented and
patient teacher, preferably one who knows English.

I also can't understand why a word like "nha" means husband and house, or
why 'minh' can mean me, you, he, she, it, just about any pronoun! This must be
the hardest language written in latin letters.

Hi there, it is a surprise that you wants to learn vietnamsesmile If I remember
correctly my polish teacher in Vietnam is now working in Warsaw University. She
          could teach you vnmesesmile

As for the words. Nha` is just "home". Some ppl say "o^ng nha` to^i" is my
husband - really means "a man in my house" imo, but I think only older ppl use
          it.

"Mi`nh" is me, mysefl. So ppl in love use it for the loved ones. If someone you
don't know say it to you, she or he must want you (or you to do sth)
          desparateybig_grin Pretty logical, isn't ittongue_out

I'm afraid I don't know many vietnamses who could teach the language.
Maybe a student could be interested. Please email me.
