I wish you luck in that, as Gaelic is a tough language. It doesn't sound the
way it's written at all. The structure of the grammar is so unlike English that
it is fair to say that Polish is as close to English as Gaelic is.

of Gaelic, ta' beagan Gaeilge agam,i`ve got books teaching Irish and a tape as
well. On the intenet, you may find many Irish courses, just visit
      www.celtia.info and search for languages

Thanks a lot for this web site. It is the first
course of irish gaelic with sound !. I hope that I'll be able
        to learn myself.

          Don`t mention it(ta' failte romhat),Joanna,
If you look well you may find more courses with sound files, they give an
extensive lists of Irish on-line courses, by the way there`s a podrecznik
irlandzkiego on the market,i`ve got a copy but unfortunately it`s in Gliwice, a
Brazilian friend of mine also has one. I`m very interested in
Irish,Welsh,Breton.Irish Pronunciaton is difficult but not impossible,of course
the best way to learn Gaelic(Irish) is to live in the Gaeltacht area(Gaelic-
speaking area),there are some free short courses for foreigners, look for the
website of Foras na Gaeilge. Tell me the site you`re learning,i can eventually
          help you in naming others.
          Slan,
          Gustavo

Joanna, here is another good link for many Irish courses on-line

      www.smo.uhi.ac.uk/gaeilge/english.html

than go to Learning Irish, you`ll be amazed at the extensive list they give
      Nice regards!

Gustavo, till now I used: www.irishpage.com/irishpeople/
but it is only html, no sound. Now I have to install real player but it is a piece of cake. As You advised me I used google searching for keywords "irish courses" and I found some with sound smile In fact I heard that gaelic is a atrophic language thats why I didn't thought that I can find it in google big_grin
        Thanx for your help.
But of course I would like to mail with someone in irish gaelic big_grin
        Have a nice night smile

          Dzien dobry,Joanna!
Nice to hear that you`re finding your way regarding on-line Irish courses, once
again if you look for appropriately,in the link i gave ending in
english.html, you see that there are many courses with sound files, one you may
like to try would be the one of RTE(the Irish language TV Channel). Concerning
the term Gaelic in English,it`s mostly used for the Scottish Celtic
language, although wrongly because the official and historical name for Irish is
also Gaelic. As to corresponding with someone in Irish, when you get some level
of proficiency, feel free to try it on me,i`ve got a basic knowledge and like
to read some texts in it. Later, when you become very confident in Irish, you
certainly would enjoy visiting home.beo.ie it`s an Irish magazine
for advanced learners, with some vocabulary in English and very important, they
give links to Irish radio/tv. here is the link to the Irish channel, www.rte.ie
          Is mise le meas,serdecznie pozdrawiam,
          Gustavo

        Dia dhuit ar maidinn!Joanna,
Here i selected for you some Irish courses with sound files, maybe you`ve
already come across one or a couple of them!
        home.primus.com.au/conaill/gleann/html/frasai.html
        www.maths.tcd.ie/gaeilge/lessons.html
        www.travlang.com/languages/cgi-bin/langchoice.cgi?page=main&lang1=english&lang2=irish
        www.learn-irish-language-software.com/phrases/FSIrish.htm (i strongly
recommend this one,no need to install anything!)
www.smo.uhi.ac.uk/~oduibhin/sf/sceal01.html (this one is for advanced
learners, although interesting for hearing how Irish sounds)

By the way,i`ve got a clue as to why you`re so interested in learning this
amazing language, you fell in love with Irish songs, didn`t you?The beauty and
mystery of the songs aroused your curiosity and interest! You know, my
favourite is Athair ar neahm(lit.Father on heaven) by Enya, extraordinarily
beautiful song,i just love it! I`m keen on making languages as these wider
known, last year i took part in an Irish course here in Poland,it was in
Sosnowiec(now i`m living in Warsaw),i also helped with letting the teacher copy
the materials i had. Do you know that in Lublin(Uniwersytet Katolicki) you can
study Irish/Welsh? You can also write me in Polish, poniewaz tez mowie po-polsku
a uwielbiam twoj jezyk, polski jest bardzo ladnym jezykiem.
No to,powodzenia i milej zabawy z nauka jezyka irlandzkiego
        Keep in touch!

Gustavo, go raibh maith agat!
Moja ulubiona to greensleeves, tradycyjna muzyka.
W Polsce regularnie zwiedzam ruiny i zamki. A Irlandia nadal póki co pozostanie moim marzeniem.
Bardzo dziękuję Ci za pomoc cieszę się, ze znalazłam kogoś kto jak ja lubi celtów smile
          pozdrawiam
          Joanna
PS. Let me know if my post is difficult to understand big_grin
