Managers and others in Poland

08.11.05, 17:50
I would like to find out from any people working in managerial positions in
Poland, whether it was difficult to obtain a job in Poland. Whether they
used headhunters or if they were simply recruited by their companies to their
new posts. Also, can foreigners expect the same or similar level of pay in
Poland as in other countries? If no, are there any 'extras' that they can
expect from their employers, such as free apartments, car service, etc? Is
the work environment different than work in other countries? Do you large
gaps between managers and other employees or is the teamwork really being
implemented? Is it difficult for women to get jobs and/or climb to the top?
Any or your insights will be appreciated. Thanks

It is not that difficult for foreigners to get employed here. I have clients
looking around all the time. The salaries are market-related, which means that
you will get paid less, but the cost of living is also less, than in Western
Europe. The key to long-term success will be to invest in property here quickly
before the prices rise. If you fail to do that, you could be feeling the pinch
a lot more in a few years time.

Freebies do tend to appear as they are less exposed to taxation than in the
west. In theory they should be taxed, but the tax officers haven't been
      bothering with that too much.

I think that women have good chances in many areas of the economy, but not so
much in certain engineering and manufacturing sectors, which remain more male
      dominated.
