      Eh?
Is this about Irn Bru again?

I know. After the thread that started with a 'b', I'm supposed to write '/'.

Or is it something to do with Einstein, and I'm just not clever enough?

        Well I'm glad I've got everyone's attention!

As this Tasty Classics event is a firm favorite with me.

I hope I can persuade some new folk along.

            hoola hoop crisps
            crumpets
terry's chocolate orange (there's always a fight over it, at my housesmile)

            lovely diet, eh?
            • russh Re: Tasty Classics 23.11.05, 21:24
Talking about HP Sauce, can you get it over here?

              I've looked, but no success.

PS. You forgot two pints of lager before ordering your crisps.

The supermarket Emma sometimes has it, on the right hand side as you leave
Warsaw and come into Piastow going straight along what is in the centre Al.
                Jerozolimskie.

That's a one-off supermarket, and the buying department is sometimes inspired.

I'd say it's a good 20% dearer than a lot of shops, but I dare say they are
playing to those who appreciate the difference.

All they seem to have is shortbread biscuits in the UK section, and curry
                    pastes.

I thought it was a pretty poor representation of what the UK has to offer.

I've only been to the nearest (to me) - Urzynow. Nowt.

The only British things they have, would you believe it, are Patek's Indian Sauces.

No Heinz BB, No HP Sauce, No Chedder (half the time), NO STILTON (buts lots of
French, Dutch & Italian Blue cheeses), No pasties (every Pole that I know who
has eaten a good one loves them) or pies. Sure there's more, but can't think
anymore. I'm missing my WATER BISCUITS & STILTON supper.

Hey Dave. You said you know the Ambassador. Tell him to have a word with the MD
(of Tesco), and get something sorted out.

Maggie - as you're on HM's service, get hold of her ear. She must have some
                      influence somewhere.

Guys, get it sorted. Your country expects!

Yuppie. Now that's word that I've not heard for years & years & years. Not since
I bought my first Fiat 126 twin-elasticated turbo with a supercharged sports
exhaust to be exact. Everybody was so envious of me at the time, I had no choice
                          but to sell it.

The arcadia, is that in Praga? Remember, I know nowt bout Warsaw!

I'll go halfway to.... almost anywhere that's not far if I can get hold of just
some of the things I mentioned.

His Excellency is already doing things, actually, or at least his staff is. The
Embassy butler also runs a company for the import of English fine teas. I did
talk with him about extending that, and he was very open about it. I think what
we need is a wish list of British products that we would buy, and an idea of
how much we would commit to buying on a regular monthly basis.

All business planning has to start with market research, so what we need is a
list of products each of us would buy that need to be specially brought over.

Foe example, I myself would commit to a large bottle of HP per month, 10 tins
of Heinz Baked Beans a month and 20 tins of Heinz cream of tomato soup. I would
also want diet lemonade, diet ginger beer, diet Tizer and diet tango (apple)
and some of these fancy flavoured gassy waters. I would buy about 10 liters of
                        that a month.

Then there are things like lemon curd, marmite, ovaltine/bournvita, PG tips,
coffee mate (cremona, which is sold here, is, like, revolting) elderflower
cordial -(although you can get a good one from Germany in mini Europa some
times) and a whole bunch of other things.

If we can get a list together for a monthly buy, then I can get it costed up
and present it as a serious proposition to the English tea Company. I don't
think they will want to play around for anything less than about 1000 pounds a
month, but if we have ten regular buyers getting a hundred quids worth of
groceries that way per month, then I think we could have the beginnings of a
                        supply line.

                          Piastow = small place
Don't you know the chef at the Irish Embassy who also sells his products from
his home in Piastow? I particularly like his sausages - you know, the ones
where you can eat the properly-browned skins without having to quaff litres of
vodka to aid digestion or having to belch copious amounts of gas. Anyway, he's
planning to expand his range of products and possibly go online too. I must
ask my wife to find out more the next time she goes round to get his quality
                          bangers.

I have been there, but I prefer one just north of Lomianki.

I think it is one of the better markets, like Mini Europa and Piotr i Pawel,
and like them is a little bit pricey.

I was pleased with the REMA at the rear end of the Smyk on Krucza that I
visited recently for the first time, by the way.
