Instead of pointing to the tooth that hurts, you say "It's my 6-ka." Schools
have numbers. Desks, tables and monitors have numbers written on them.
At first I thought this was an old communist thing - "We don't know how fast
we're building socialism, but we do know how many chairs the people own. And
we've nearly finished counting the schools." But it's the same in private
companies, even now.
I once tried to buy a top E-string for a guitar, 1-ka or 6-ka? Which end do
they count them from?
It was the same when I broke my thumb, and when the doctor asked what the
problem was, I didn't know whether to say I'd broken my 1-ka or 5-ka.
