Does any of you live in Poznań?

If yes, then where do you hang out?
    • usenetposts Re: Does any of you live in Poznań? 05.12.05, 00:53
I used to live in Poznan, and when I did, my favorite hangouts were as follows:

      1. A fine restaurant on the other side of the road from where that great big
metal spider is hung on the wall, on Grochowska not far from the Targi

      2. Pizza hut on Sw. Marcina

      3. Palmiarnia

      4. Restaurant Carmen, which you can find in the phone book.

        Pizza Hut?!
That place reminds me of one of my first birthday parties....

          what about parties in poznan?
          • usenetposts Re: Does any of you live in Poznań? 30.12.05, 23:32
I know there's several good clubs. There's one just by where the ul.
Niepodleglosci hits Sw Marcina, but I can't remeber the name of it. It has like
            blue neon lights by it.

I never went in it myself, but looking at the people going on and out, it seems
            to be a popular venue.

You can always throw one yourself, you know. We will come over and you will
            entertain us.
How do you like my idea?

I was in Poznań for the last Malta festival (a huge drinking binge for pseudo-
intellectuals) and everything in the city is either named after goats or has a
picture of a goat on it.
Lots of very helpful people have explained to me that it's because of a local
legend (like I couldn't work that out myself), but nobody knows what the legend
      is.
      Anybody?

It depends what kind of foreigner they are and how much money they've got.

It also depends where they are and what they're interested in.
I recommend drinking beer. Avoid city centre bars because they tend to obey the
licensing laws rather than staying open all night. They're also more expensive,
full of students and often play jazz.
There's lots of good music in Poland, so there's usually a variety of concerts.
The smaller clubs where the interesting bands play aren't expensive, so it can
be worth going just out of interest.
The mountains are good for walking in.
Eating is good. Find a milk bar (bar mleczny) for traditional local (but not
always very hot) food. And when you find a Polish girlfriend her mother will
            feed you until you explode.
There aren't too many good museums, especially outside the biggest cities.

Amigo-Course you can! There are lot of Esquelas de Idiomas in Poznan where you
can teach Spanish! Lot of student are lerning this beatiful language, I thing
more and more, so if you just look carefully you should find a job! I guess
natives are better paid, so working in a language school you should be able to
support yourself. Start looking, and go for it, maybe one day I'll be a student
                in your classwink

I know poznan very well and am really impressed. It's one of the most beautiful polish cities. Potperri of hostoric bildings and modern ones. It is said to be one of the first capitals of Poladn, has many places to see. It also has the Best Shopping Centre In The World, Stary Browar. It looks like a modern palace.

        en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poznan
I see this fine article on the City on Wikipedia. It doesn't mention anything
about Jewish Poznan or the fact that under German rule the final known
execution of a witch under the Hexenwahn took place here, but other than that I
consider it a good place to start to learn about the City.

I graduated with a degree in English at UAM and during my time all native
speakers from our department used to hang out in The Dubliner in The Castle. I
now live in the UK and haven't been to Poznan for ages so cannot say whether
the place still exists but it was fab at the time. If any of you teach at UAM
fifth floor English department then drop me a line, would be interested to know
who from the old crew is still there.
