EU tax = good thing

20.12.05, 12:53
European Commission chief Jose Manuel Barroso has suggested setting an EU tax
for citizens of member states.
Bravo!
Add it to income tax and then we would see massive cuts in German and Dutch
contributions and massive increases in both British and French contributions.
French farmers would dump manure everywhere, the Union would implode and we
could get on with creating a free trade Zollverein/customs union.

      Aaaahhh!

This is his way of taking forward the EU after the failure of the constitution,
in that it would bring, sorry force, the EU to be more economically bound, and
give more power to the EU parliament, all of course without asking the electorate.

It will ill not, cannot (I dearly hope) ever come into force (but then a week
ago I heard Tony Blair say that he would not give way on the rebate without
concrete concessions from the French on the CAP).

I love your finale - that's what is was designed to be, and what it should be.
