Warsaw International Choir - now enlisting!

13.01.06, 11:03
There is an international Choir in Warsaw, called the "Mokotow Cocktails",
which I understand is down to their drinking preferences and rough location
of their meeting place, which you may have seen performing at various
functions. I saw them at a couple of Queen's Birthday Parties at HM Embassy,
and at the Ambassador's Carol Concert, and I know they've been doing concerts
at quite a few charitable events.

Anyway, since they are starting practices for a whole new repertoire at the
beginning of February, and some of the members have moved out of Poland (most
of them are foreigners, you see, British, South African, Belgian, Czech, etc)
now is a unique opportunity to enhance your quality of life by joining the
choir, if you can pass the informal audition by the leader, David Bowman.

I don't want to put David's number or e-mail out on a public forum (he said I
could, but I'm not sure he realises what he's letting himself in for), but if
anyone wants to be put in contact with him, then just drop me a private line,
and I'll gladly arrange it. Don't think too long, as first practice with the
new intake is Wednesday, 1st February. You will be expected to keep your
Wednesdays fairly free for practices, as well as support obviously the
performances.

I have to tell you that the choir has a very good sound, and for anyone who
sings and has an interest in a choral activity, this is one of your best
opportunities to pursue that, here in Warsaw.

I can't sing to save my life. I'm better at dancing thoughsmile

OK, since the practice is on Wednesday, this is pretty much the last call, guys.

The second practice will be Tuesday. At a pinch one missed practice isn't that
much to pick up on, so since we've got some new faces, it's worth bringing this
back up to the top a final time.

Among the pieces we started working on are "My love is like a red, red rose"
          and "Swing Low, Sweet chariot".

Anyone wishing for this choir to perform at a function can also let us know via
my mail here. We are especially open for charity functions in the evenings.
