Isn't that an overstatement Davey?

Davey,
I go to my doctor for a check up every year. Do you sugest I should call him
a "pooh-pooh" and tell him he would starve if not people like me?

You remind me of the person pulled over by police for speeding. Motorist
claims that because he's pays local taxes and therefore paying that policer
officer wages....he demands to be let go!

Of course because a cop is a profesional, he quickly dismisses the comment,
writes motorist a ticket.... calculating weather he should give him a dime or
a Quater (10 cents or 25 cents), the equvalent of what that local resident
who got busted for speeding..... contributed in last year taxes... smile

If he gives clients the prescription he, as an expert, feels like giving them
without asking them how they feel or what they think is wrong with themselves,
or what their symptoms are, then I would think him just as big a pooh-pooh
merchant as the artist who doesn't bother interacting with his patrons.

On the contrary in a democracy I expect a fair service from the police. That
the motorist may deserve to be fined is a question of law which is established
hopefully by elected representatives. A policeman does his job, but if he lacks
any kind of civility in doing so, then sorry, but I am still a client and I
still have certain expectations from my taxes, and if Homo fiscus doesn't like
Homo faber saying that, then tough is all I can say.

If you liken yourself to the government operative, and not to the businessman,
who is also a creator, not merely a taxer of other people's creativity, then I
seriously wonder what kind of artist you think you are. Not one that Thomas
Mann would recognise, with his Kuenstler-Buerger Konflikt.

        Davey,
The punch line of my last post was the naivette of folks reasoning same way you
are. You paid few zlotys to couple of the "artists" for ten pictures and you
claim to be "the patron of the arts". You are just small plancton, in your
puddle, and you sound like shark in the Ocean....

You made me laugh with your pretensious "commisioning"....thing. Queen
Elizabeth can commision an artist to paint her Majesty portrait, The New York
City can commision an architect to design a redevelopment of the World Trade
Center site....they spend good deal of money for, so they are entitled to use
big word. If you Davey, buy a picture form struggling artist..you do so to
        decorate your dwelling, nothing more.

Next time please focus on the matter of the question, and when being charged
for a misdeed, try defending yourself, instead turning attention to another.

Good morning Waldek, how are you this morning?

All this talk of art, which I know very little about; you have got me absolutely
itching to see at least a sample of your work. Please! If you photo one of yours
and put it on the forum, then I'll do the same with one of my son's, who is very
          artistic.

Sure, and my nephew who is 2 will be profesor or at least a teacher like
yourself, since he likes to stand in living room where adults gather and he
mumbles something in his own language very loudly so everyone can hear.

I don't understand what you are saying. My son is 14, and is very, very artistic.

On the contrary, I commissioned about 4 works just last year. I want to
commission about 5 works per year and spend a couple of thousand of dollars on
          art per year.

I also go to about 5 or 6 vernissages a year and 3-4 commercial galleries, as
well as 3-4 public art galleries per year.

I don't call that being either a shark or plankton. It is in the middle, which
is where the bulk of art patrons are.

There's no point in alienating yourself from us. You have only a small chance
to receive Queen Elizabeth's patronage, but when the likes of me pay pounds,
they've got the same face on them as the ones she pays.

          Not only.

There is a lot more to it than that. Art to decorate a dwelling is like music
played in the background at a supermarket. It is not really a full experience
          of art.

"Charged for a misdeed" eh? I must be one heck of a wascally wabbit.
    • waldek1610 Davey, I found piece of art you will fancy..... 27.01.06, 07:33
It will fit perfectly in your living room or any other prominent space in your
      palace.
