I don't copy masterpieces, or any other paintings for that matter. I admit I
have made a copy or two of the Chopin by Delacroix (because I admire that
composer), and few other inspired by etching and other small drawings...but its
      whole different bussiness.

I do my own stuff although as many artists I admit I sometimes get inspirations
from others, just like Impresionist got inspired by Delaxroix and Picasso was
inspired by french realists. But to compare me to some Chinesse artisians who
copy everything like monkeys, is not fair. And frankly your sugestion doesn't
      bother me.

"I do my own stuff although as many artists I admit.."

The fact that you paint does not make you an artist.

Art; means to "fix stuff together, to make things", therefore its simply
creating stuff, doing things; painting, singing, acting, playing musical
          instrument.

There's no such a thing as "Artist licensing", and its not even for some
Romanian big headed wannabe professor to judge. Art is about creativity, art is
about passion, and I don't need a European...much less the Romanian passport to
have right to call myself an artist.

Not exactly, but artists did in fact use plumbing stuff and other every-day
objects to create art. How about this one?

I think psychiatrists call it an irresistible impulse.

Anyway – what is an artist? I know quite a few people who consider themselves
to be artisans that one may regard to be artists, and I know even more people
calling themselves artists that would probably better fit the description
artisan – if not something worse.

Don't worry about it my friend, I didn't take an offense in what you said. But
just to set the record straight, I worry more about being copied by
those "Chinesse art copy factories" and thousands of Chinesse artisians
employed in them, because all they do is copy ..and I create.

Same difference as being Elvis Presley and being Elvis Presley impersonator. To
parafraize I'm Waldek1610..and if someone wants to copy me, I let them as long
as they are not selling the stuff as the originals...

Maybe you didn't realise, but Chinesse have centuries old tradition of copying
European porcelaine and European oil paiting....Even when Martial Arts legend
Bruce Lee died, there was at least 3 Bruce Lee clones ready to continue his
          briliant carrier....

As far as the definition of artist and artisian is concerned, it doesn't really
matter. Greek philosopher once said; "you are what you do"..if you walk you're
a walker, if you write you are a writer...

What does it really matter if someone calls me "an artist" or "a nobody"...I
still create my art, because that's what I love, because that's what I have a
          passion for.

How can anyone copy your work if no-one has ever seen it? I shouldn't worry yet
            - the Chinese only copy things that have value on the open market.

Maybe you didn't realise, but the Chinese also have an older culture than
Europe. Don't mock them - their soon going to rule the world!

So what, Egyptians have a culture that is older than European and they do not
seem to influence todays world much. Even Chinesse despite their cultural
legacy, failed to create modern culture that the rest of the World could follow.

Sure, they excell in Martial arts, natural medicine, meditation and other
philosophical areas or the cuisine that is renown around the World, but all of
it is of rather secondary value.

You seem to have your head firmly in the sand as far as the Chinese achievement
and their ongoing potential is concerned.

The Chinese will have an important role in tomorrow's world - it could be them
that decides what ends up happening when we are in outright war with the Muslim
world, something I feel is sadly inevitable.

If it were not the only language they understand, you would be right.

Dialogue to them, if you will forgive the British spelling, means waiting for
the enemy to give an inch, then taking a yard.

If not, then why did the Palestinians vote for Hamas AFTER being given the Gaza
strip when they didn't do so before?

You are completely wrong. Porcelana is "china" in English for its very reason.
Europeans were able to make such fine china as Chinese only in 19th century, and
first such factory was built in Meissen, Germany.

Porcelit is easy to be made, but porcelana is different story.
