      Know what you mean.

I think I've memorised over a dozen pin codes, passwords, logins etc. Not to
mention the many cards, chip or otherwise, that I need to carry in my wallet...

you mean they don't take cash anymore, or what?

they'll refuse if you have a chip.

                a chip on your shoulder?
or a chip in your hand?
                or too many chips???

It's like your regular debit card, Maggie, but this one also covers your credit
card purchases. So instead of lugging around dozens of different cards, you
just have one with your own chip in it ( your personal id #). When you buy
something, you don't have to sign anything on a piece of paper any more, just
punch in your PIN # and you are done. It's supposed to reduce fraud that's
ranking there in millions of pounds every year.
It hasn't been introduced in Canada yet. Not that I am aware anyway.
