Any Greeks here?

Hi. I have a problem. My friend is coming to visit me here in Warsaw. But i
have absolutely no idea how to feed him. I need to know what Greeks think
about polish food, whether it is edible for them or not, Lol. If anyone can
help, i ll be very gratefull.

As there's no Greeks jumping in, na bezrybiu i rak ryba (I'm bored).
If you're in Warsaw you could go to Atena - a Greek bar run by two Greeks and
pick their brains as to their preferred diet in Poland and sources of
indispensible Greek ingredients. Here's a link to Greek restaurants in Poland.
      grecja.home.pl/restauracje_index.htm
'Kopiaste' is Greek for'welcome', there must be a long-lostlink there, so I
think your guest will be fine whatever you feed him/her. Just don't expect them
to know 'ryba po grecku'. Golabki, on the other hand should go down a treat,
especially if wrapped in vine leaves. As should lamb (jagnina/baranina), veal,
pork, chicken, beef mince, fish. If they eat meat, that is. Beef dishes aren't
that common. You could stick meat on a skewer, grill and serve it with nice
fresh salad, maybe with feta cheese and olives if available (for Greek effect)
but I'm sure it'll be fine if you don't. Kalamata olives are nice. If you want
to to fuss with veg you can stuff vegetables like peppers, tomatos, aubergines.
Perhaps bechamel sauce over pasta with some mince and oven baked vegetables.
Othervise just fresh salad with olive oil and some herbs. Fresh is the key word
here. Wine and black coffee. Do what you'd normally do, people go abroad to
      experience new things smile

I know some Greeks who are stuck out in the country building roads on EU money,
and they seem pretty happy with Polish food.

If instead of "mizeria" they say "tzatziki", don't be surprised, though.

Thanks a lot. smile)) I think there is gonna be a lot of fun though... Btw, i know
the difference between mizeria and tzatziki, its garlic. I v found that forum
not too long ago, and i must admit that my favourite thing here is when you
write a sentence (all in english) and in the middle of that - polish word.
E.g. mizeria. That is really really wicked smile)))

Greeks generally hate Polish food. Do not give them tea with every meal!!!!!!!
They will feel uncomfortable because in Grece you offer a tea only to an ill
person. Do not give them a dinner with boiled potatoes. They think it is a
horror. Do not give them tomato soup! They will not be able to eat it. Do not
give them any cabbage (cooked or not), any pickles!!! I think you invited a
young Greek to Poland. Another Polish girl who try to pick up a Greek? Did you
already start to learn a language? In Poland only women lern Greek. Most of
those grils never learn anything... Anyway chances are that when he sees
how "rich and tasty" is Polish kitchen he'll never come back.....

Why are you so rude? Don't you have any male friends, i mean, just friends.
Well, I do. And I m not gonna pick him up. And yes, i started to learn Greek, i
know "efcharisto" ang "geia sou", and he knows "dziękuję" and "cześć". That is
all, there will be no more lessons. Thanks, anyway

loves cucumber soup and some other typical Polish dishes. And he has never been
offended while offered a cup of tea to the meal.I wish you a nice time with
                your friend!Greetings

I am not rude I am just honest. Whatever Greeks will tell you it will be out of
politness. They will tell you they like everything which is of course not true.
Of course I know that you learn Greek (guess why?)it is not difficult to
understand Polish girl, when you know one, it is like you know most of them.
Since I am a Pole I knew many like you. That is why I married Italien, I could
      not stand Polish koltun.
