If you want an all-night knees up, the best for me would be a Saturday night,
as I've started hosting Bible studies at my place on Friday evenings. (All are
welcome by the way). The latest suggestion I made was the monday after next,
but no firm takers have emerged yet.

            OK.

Let's meet at the curry place where Marszalkowska crosses over Trasa
Lazienkowska tomorrow at 8 o clock.

                  Yes, this evening!

Eight o clock atthe Tandoori Palace.

Whoever comes, is welcome, with or without "spice" - which is a curry related
plural of "spouse". In any event my wife and I will be there. Since I am not
the Prophet Mohammed (blessed be his holy turban) there is a cartoon of me in
the wizitowka section, so anyone who goes in the restaurant will be able to
                  recognise me easily.

Now's a chance to get to meet the people you are talking to, everybody.

Whatever we do later on we can decide at the Curryhouse.

I can already taste the bhaji, Maggie...

What? No Russ? No Ervin? What about all the other people who ask for a meet up
                from time to time? Nicholas?

What about Varsovian - you look like a man who appreciates a good curry. You

If nobody but Elena and I turn up today, as seems likely, then next time it
won't be me arranging time and place, it'll be whoever else wants to try their
hand at it, because I'm starting to get the impression that I may be able to do
the forumjockey thing, but somehow being a get-together-impressario is not
                    exactly my strong suite...

As it is, everyone who comes to this Forum can see what is going on this
evening, and whoever turns up will be welcome, and if nobody puts in an
appearance then Elena and I will just have a nice curry on our own, no biggie.

I didn't exactly see the point of that sarcasm. I may not live like an
aristocrat, but it's home to me.

They say an Englishman's home is his castle, but we don't have half the hang-
ups of inviting people round that Polish people do.

I bet you had more invites to English homes when you were over there than the
average Brit gets to Polish homes over here.

Poles think of themsleves as so hospitable, and talk about how the table creaks
under the weight of the food, but that is only an urban legend. Time and time
again it is me that is left to show any kind of hospitality to guests to
Poland, because the natives of this country just cannot be bothered. They are
the first to appreciate the hospitality of others abroad, though. And they are
very earnest in inviting their western hosts to come to see them so that they
can return the hospitality, as long as they think that their prospective guests
                                will never undertake the journey.

Really? I haven't been that surprised with the hospitaly. It is avarage. The
best hispitality I was shown was by my cousin and her Chinese husband. It was
the best barbie ever. But I do love my food and he is a great cook. So I can't

David, I do think your experience and analysis is just 'generalising'. And has
nothing to do with 'inviting westeners' (hey, I thought we're all Europeans
                                  now?smile))
Really. I mean, to be honest I don't find the British, Germans THAT eager to
invite you round to their homes, they prefer meetings in pubs or bars. But that
is my own personal experience. So, it isn't to say ALL are like that.

I am someone, who used to love to go out all the time. Now it just does my head
in and I preffer that what they call 'homing' smile I have some very nice
neighbours and friends and we do that all the time.

                                  Everyone is different.

It's a pity I've been sick the last couple days or I'd have attended. This is
the first time this winter I've caught something though, I guess it was my turn.
Even when it was -20 and I was walking my dogs everyday I was fine, so it must
be the warmer weather we've been having. I guess the snow was keeping me healthy
and seeing it start to melt away has weakened me.

Pity you were ill, and I hope you get better soon.

I'm not having much luck at organising these, those I'll leave it to someone
else to organise the next one, and give them whatever support I can.
