sooo... what is the problem with that ampolion? Could you kindly elaborate what
you mean by "too many foreigners?"

      Pozdrawiam

Well, Mwanginjagi, what he means by coming on to a forum for Foreigners in
Poland and saying "too many foreigners on this forum" is to say "I am a troll,
and have come here to see if I can easily get a rise out of people".

Well the answer is, yes, he can get a rise out of people, but first he should
try being a bit more entertaining and original.

Hi this is me gurak! Saying 'foreigners' he probably might have meant too many
polish posting on this forum pretending that their are foreigners.

            And Poles aren't foreigners?

Don't you live in New York?
    • yoric Re: Too many "foreigners" 17.02.06, 22:31
      Why is that?

Oh, I know. Maybe because there are quite a few (Polish) users who would like to
chat in English once in a while, but effectively can't do that on the so-called
'English Only' Forum that has become 'Please translate two sentences' forum
      (exclusively in Polish)?

Come to think of it, we should be given the status of refugees here.

        OK, I hereby confer it.
(Ervin, you've gotta look after this chap now wink .)

Seriously, though, if you go right back to the beginning where I set this thing
up, you will see threads where I made it clear back then that anyone could
participate who was interested, even though the theme which holds it all
together is that of foreigners and for foreigners.

If a person who is not a foreigner finds this a better place just to hang out
and practice their languages, that is cool. Learning a foreign language makes
you part of that nation more than place of birth does, or what it says on your
passport. Language determines what goes on in your head, according to the Sapir-
Whorff hypothesis, which I certainly adhere to, and so if you have made an
effort to learn English you already are a little bit English, or Anglo-Saxon,
or whatever you want to call it. That is an unacknowledged but inconquerable
truth; learning a language changes you - every new word and phrase you learn
establishes new synapses and connections that start to look like ours, and you
will never be the same 100% Polish person again, and the same vice versa.

Remember that English is not a requirement on the forum either. There are
threads in Spanish, German, whatever people want. There is no requirement to
stick to a single language even within a single thread or a single post, or
even wewnątrz jednego zdania. "Linguistic bigos" is the term of art. All I ask
is that people come with interesting dialogue and certainly any one who is not
a regular poster who waltzes in here with translation and/or proofing requests
        can expect a commercial offer.

That means "looking for trouble", or "picking up a fight"

In short, for us this place is exactly what Forum "English Only" is supposed to
be, but isn't and long hasn't.

Ampolion, silence is golden, sometimes. Did we spell foreigners wrong?
        • ampolion Re: Too many "foreigners" 19.02.06, 22:20
To nie jest słownik ortograficzny. Warto wiedzieć co słowo "foreigner" znaczy
          po angielsku.

No to już wiemy. I co dalej? Wjaśnij łopatologicznie o co chodzi w tym
komentarzu bo widać durnowata jestem i nie kojarzę.
