Moon in Łódź

Hello everybody! Long time no see smile

If it happens to one of you…

One week ago I picked up my wife after her German classes – around half past
8 - and when driving home in the main avenue in Lodz city (aleja wolkniarze)
I couldn’t avoid to dive with my little Corsa in a moon crater… result… two
brand new Dębica winter tyres busted, two alloy weels destroyed, steering
completely unaligned and the day after one working day wasted too ask what to
do and fill the documents to complain and apply for a compensation
to “Wydział Transportu i Komunikacji”.

How to do it?

One must fill the papers describing in detail the accident and after go to
PZU office in order to open the process, the car should be kept in the garage
or repair service until the expert will decide the day of visit. In my case
will take 2 to 3 weeks that’s why we decided to use AC to have it back as
fast as possible (my wife is pregnant and we really need the car).

Anyway it seems they will refused because we don't have "Pełna Dokumentacja",
means that we didn't take any photos of the "crater" and we removed the car
from the place after the crash! What they wanted? It was in the middle of the
main avenue in Łódź! I drove the car with two destroyed tyres to a nearby
petrol station and called the “Laweta”.

A person in PZU told us the average of cars beeing damaged because of holes
in the roads of Lodz is around 150! More… 80 tons (they said this number in
TVN) of asfalt are used in a daily basis in order to cover up them.

If it happens to you.

Don't take the car from the place of the accident

Call the Police

Take photos of the place with the car on it if possible

Go immediatly to Wydział Transportu i Komunikacji

EU money needed as soon as possible, otherwise it’s better to buy some Panzer.

Cumprimentos

Ricardo

      I am sorry to hear you are another victim of Polish road authorities.

      If this can cheer you up, I can share story a friend of mine told me some time
      ago. he's been to Almaty (that's in Kazakhstan) and he saw a Lada driving into a
      large puddle. The car then disappeared under the water, and a driver managed to
      get into the stable ground some 30 seconds later.

      So much about the craters in different parts of our beautiful world.

      If they refuse to accept the claim, try to find laweta driver, who can witness
      for you and demand the documentation from Lodz road maintenance - if they
      repaired the particular crater, it must be some evidence; if not then it must
      still be there.

      Good luck anyway. When is the Ricardinho due?

      Thank you Firemouse

      The problem is that in the exact night we parked the car in BP petrol station
      and went home by taxi, the car stayed there all the night until 3 p.m. next day.

      When the car was beeing taken to Opel service and after the visit to PZU we saw
      a yellow Lublin Van and two guys covering the crater with fresh asfalt, another
      thing i've noticed was the ammount of plastic wheel covers lying in the snow
      around the pavement and a Ford Probe with a dented alloy wheel just next to our
      car.

      It's true... In most part of Europe the craters are a common sighting, my
      country it's not an exception too.

      The real Portulaco? (Portugues + Polaco) smile Around middle of May.

        Hey, he'll be Taurus. How significant for your origin wink Err, I do not know if
        this corrida thing is popular in Portugal too. So don't bash me for generalisations.

        But in your Moon trip case you can raise few arguments:

        - the damage is typical for falling into the road crater;
        - try to find the Probe driver (and the taximan maybe too);
        - they repaired it so they acknowledged the problem. Get the road repair report;
        - with such damage you could not drive for a long distance, and there are no
        similar places in the surrounding where you could dent your car in a similar way;
        - threat them with causing jeopardy for nasciturius' health (who knows, this can
        help);
        - well, in a middle of the night with pregnant wife, what do they expect?
        Running for camera and taking pictures, or bringing the wife safe home?

      It's true, probably Taurus tough I'm completely against corridas (touradas in
      Portugal) or anywere in the world.

      If PZU will say NO then I will spend some extra zloty in a lawyer for him to
      write a complain letter.

      Cost of repair will be around 700 zloty because my car is fitted with original
      Opel alloy weels and one of them looks like a rustic French cheese. sad
