I need to send $200 over to US. Could anybody tell me pls the least expensive
way to wire the money there. I know about Western Union but they'd like to
charge me 80 PLN for their service which is OUTRAGEOUS! FROM US to PL they
charge just $15 ! Anyway, any help here would be appreiciated.
A friend is about to ship me a bag of books and have to settle!!!
Cheers

In general it’s extremely expensive to transfer small amounts cross border –
the exception is from Euro account to Euro account within EU. In your case I
think the cheapest solution would be to go to an American Express office and
buy a cheque from them. Then post the cheque in a registered letter.

There's no AE office where I live (Szczecin). In fact AE only location is in
Warsaw. Thank you anyway. Looks like I'm stuck with Western Union option.

I heard that Citibank could help you. Maybe you can get a money order/ cashier’s
check in USD and send it to your friend.

        What about www.moneybookers.com
I haven't used it but have a friend who swears by it as the cheapest way to send
        money abroad.

seems like you can use PayPal to do that (send money only)

I am not sure if you will find it helpful but we used to send $ to relatives
through our bank. We just went to the bank and asked them to transfer the money
into their account. The bank did the whole thing for us and there was no mail
or checks involved. I would think it probably works both ways...

Yeah, jot-23 is right. PayPal is a good solution. Only care needs to be taken
as there are several phishing sites appearing and disappearing which look like
paypal. Make sure you are always clicking onto www.paypal.com and then
        whatever follows it.
