I remember a friend - fluent foreign speaker of Polish - talking about a forest
goose appearing on a menu. Couldn't understand what the hell he was on about ...

Menus, as steaks, are done the English way rarely!

I think if there is one area where people wrongly skimp on having a
professional translation job done, it is the good old jadlospis.

I sometimes get given English menus if waiters hear me talking in English and I
cannot understand what half of the things on some of them mean, and have to ask
for the Polish one instead.
