Job permission is a real pain in the ...
Are you married to a Polish citizen?
If you are'nt , only your employer can apply for job permission on your behalf.
Also, he must pay about 900 zł for the whole application process.
My partner who is US citizen was not granted the permit to stay here, because he did not have a job permition.
We have two beautiful children , who are Polish and American citizens.
Apparently, Immigration Office in Warsaw just DO NOT CARE of his parental rights and my children's rights to have their dad AT HOME !
      I hate it !
Good luck with job permission !

I thought that being an EU citizen gave you the right, and that Poland has not
'closed' it's job market to other EU countries.

I had no problem after May 1st 2004.
          Cheap too.

Hi and thank's for your reply

unforunately the job market is still closed in poland, at least for
the italians. It was supposed to be open from the first of may.
But the problem is that italy decided to keep closed the job market for
        the polish people.
        Best regards

          You can't blame them then!

If you're married to a Pole, you don't need a work permit.
But if you're not, it's usually enough for your employer to sign a piece of
paper in the Urząd Pracy saying that they can't find a Pole with the proper
          qualifications to do your job.
Theoretically, of course, this depends on your job, but I don't think they ever
          check.

The check is, that it's supposed to hang up for a certain period. I'm not sure
but I think that the Wojewoda has the discretion to decide on the niceties of
how long and where that happens, therefore what is the case in one city may
look different to the situation in another.
