14.03. Steak and BJ Day

14.03.06, 00:52
Steak and Blowjob Day (male counterpart of Valentine's day). The name's
largely self-explanatory, but anyone interested can consult Wikipedia:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steak_and_Blowjob_Day
Unfortunately, Polish version is almost certainly going to be deleted in a
matter of days. I am a very strong supporter of keeping the text and think
there are no sound arguments for such a move.

Ordering a meal at a 'Harvester' restaurant will never be the same smile)

You do seem to be drawn to this subject matter though; remember this?

        Thanks!!!
Your memory is astonishing. I forgot all about this discussion perhaps a week
        after is had ended.

Certain things just stick in your mind - I can't watch Forrest Gump without
remembering what once happened to me in the middle of it ...

If it was anything like what happened in the middle of Garp, then I can imagine
it would be hard to forget.

I'm not surprised, it wasn't that memorable. It's just that I don't get to hear
this particular phrase in Polish, in fact the first time I came across it was
on EO! This is the second time in the same context triggering the memory - not
          a freaky memory feat smile)

I mentioned in the talk page behind the English article what is going on in the
      Polish one.

      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talksmirkteak_and_Blowjob_Day
My own view is that there shouldn't be days set aside for these things but they
should be done on the impulse and free will of the partners.

Just as people get very neurotic about not getting any cards on Valentines,
people are going to get upset if they don't get a steak on this day.

I was planning on having fish and chips today, anyway.

        Here's what I think:
        1. The article should be left alone.
        2. I dedicate the last (now last but one) comment on the English discussion page
        to the deletists.
        3. I can't be reconciled with the idea of not getting a steak today so I'm gonna
make myself one [only a poultry steak, as I live near the "site 0" in Torun and
poultry has somehow got fun to eat].
        4. No way my g/f is getting flowers the next Valentine's Day!
(Unless, that is, the referent of the expression changes tongue_out.)
        Regards

I cannot stand deletists. I'm an inclusionist Wikipedian.
What do they think it is, a paper medium? Are they worried people won't be able
to print it out if there's too much info?

That's the spirit! Now that the worldwide ban on British beef has been lifted,
it's no fun anymore, and I heard even John Selwyn Gummer prefers chicken these
days. That's when he can't get a pheasant. I think he said "ph", not "p".

I didn't get my wife cut flowers either. I always thought that getting someone
something that will wilt in a few days and calling it a symbol of everlasting
love was a bit odd. Fortunately, we both like pot plants. (Not that pot, I
          hasten to add wink...

I've asked this guy, Dr David Day

        en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talkbig_grinaycd
to intervene. He's like my wikicoach. I thought while I was learning Wiki to
take advantage mainly of coaches with an opposite POV to mine, so that there
can be no accusations of meatpuppetry, etc.

Day is a good man. I hope he has the time and inclination to help on this.

I'm less emotional now, and I think the Administrators are doing a good job
overall, and their motives in this case weren't bad - but still the deletion was
against the procedure, and the blocking was very clearly against any rules.
Anyway, thank you very much for support [btw, I think it is easy to guess, but I
should perhaps state openly that the person involved is me myself].

Incidentally, I was thinking of doing an editing blitz on Poland-related
articles in the English wikipedia, as some of them are written in sub-optimal
English. If anyone sees any wikipedia articles rlated to Poland that need
editing, either consider registering as a wikipedian and editing them, or let
me know about them and I will do what I can with them.

Yes, my username is Ariosto in both lg versions, after the great Italian
              renaissance writer.
              Thanks again for your help.

      Thanks for support yet again.
I probably should have informed you before that the editing of the SDU page was
according to the rules, but somehow I just cast my eyes over your post and
assumed it referred to the page of the article itself...
Anyway, chances for the Polish entry, no matter under what title and with what
content, remain very slim. The admins seem to have a very strong sense of
mission ('seek and destroy') and now have assumed a personal stance against this
entry. To them, their decision equals the decision of the Wikipedia comunity. I
managed to make them admit that some of their moves were entirely arbitrary and
against the written code of the Polish Wikipedia but this is poor comfort.
And yet again, even though your effort for mediation did not work, your voice in
this debate was priceless for me from the psychological point of view .

OK, well I'm glad to be of service. I think there should even be a rule that
they shouldn't be able to remove translations of existing articles in other
language versions. After all, if the context shows that it is telling about an
American institution, what the Americans on Wikipedia decided about it out to
        be "miarodajne".
