Hej, is there anyone here from Tarnow? or who has been to Tarnow? It's my
favourite place in the whole world.

I'm in Powiat Tarnowski, only 32 km South of Tarnów. It's a beautiful city and
      I go there very often.

In the rynek, there is an excellent 'Jazz' pub on the South side, in the
basement. I also like to eat in the Chinese restaurant "Łeba" on ul. Walowa.
Very cozy with great food. On ul. Słoneczna, there was a large 'disco'
called '220 volt' or something like that. Also, on ul. Krakowska, there is
the 'Blue Velvet'. Near me in Zaliczyn (only 7 km west) is the 'Jagiellonka'
with great dancing. In the village of Melsztyn, near the ruins of the Melsztyn
castle, is a superb restaurant "Pod Zamcze" with nice views of the Dunajec
river, and great food as well. There are some other good dance clubs in
Ciężkowice and Tuchów as well. So much to do, and so little time. smile
Małopolskie is heaven. Though, I still enjoy splitting my wood!

Actually, the "Blue Velvet" is now known as "The Blue Club"...nice place to let

So, are you living in Tarnów now?

No, unfortunately not...I first went to Tarnow in 2000r (having taught at
English language summer camps; the 1st in Pulawy, where i fell in love with a
girl who by chance was travelling to Tarnow to stay with her grandparents,
where I was travelling to the 2nd summer camp)...
2001r camps in Goldap and Brzesko, from which my friend Hakim and I visited
Tarnow then spent a week there after the Brzesko camp...
2002r i spent 10days in Tarnow after camps in Ostrowiec Swietokrzyski and
Krosno (Podkarpackie) before my 'emigration' to Swiebodzin (Lubuskie) in
Sept '02... I lived in Swiebodzin, then Brussels, then Kosice, then in
Jan/Feb '03 to Slupsk, Feb '04 to Koszalin and then i ended up back in
the uk in Jun/Jul '04... wish i was still in Tarnow...

the Jazz pub... you mean 'Piano bar'?... and 'Przepraszam' next door...
The Chinese restaurant, it's near to the end of Walowa, not far from the statue
of Bem, right? I seem to remember going there. and there's another at the
'beginning' of Lwowska or thereabouts. 'Blue Velvet' i remember from 2000r.
Splitting wood -you a lumberjack? carpenter?
And have you been to Brzesko (the home of Okocim - tasted better before
Carlsberg took it over and interfered didn't it?)?

Yes, the "Leba" Chinese restaurant is near the Bem statue, across the the law
firm of Jerzy Hebda. You are correct, there is another at the beginning of
Lwowska. So again, do currently live in Tarnów?

              > Splitting wood -you a lumberjack? carpenter?

No, I'm an accountant pretending to be a farmer/lumberjack/carpenter. smile

I've passed the Okocim brewery several times without actually ever going inside
it. My favorite Polish beers are Żywiec, EB, and Lech.

Let me know if you wish to have a beer sometime in Tarnów.

Actually, the post which I have recently read and missed previously was the one
posted on "18.03.06, 22:36'. Ok, so you don't live in Tarnów. smile I was just
there two days ago, and in fact, I ate at 'Leba' again. My order was chicken,
vegetables, with fried rice and salad. In the rynek, they have erected an ice
skating rink for the winter. Each year, the authorities renovate a small
segment of the 'old town' and it looks even better. Tarnów is one of those
countless Polish cities that are off the beaten track for tourists, and deserve
many more visitors. Keep in touch!

Born in Manhattan, New York City, and lived there for 7 years before moving to
Staten Island, New York. Beginning in 1994, while working downtown Manhattan as
an accountant, each year I would take my available vacation time and spend it
in Poland and Europe, touring the continent. By 1999, I was fascinated by
Europe, with the many opportunities that exist here, so I started to look into
the possibility of purchasing my own piece of paradise. You must understand,
it's almost every American's dream to own a place overseas. It just has that
exotic sentiment to it. What awaits you at the other end of the world? At
first, France and Italy were in my mind, to own a stone farmhouse and some
land. After seeing many flats, houses, and farms in Europe, coupled with the
prices, I decided this was the best place to buy. Prior to 2001, initially, I
wanted to buy a flat in Warsaw. Then, while staying near Tarnów with some
friends during the year 2001, I picked up the weekly newspaper "Temi" and read
the 'ogłoszenie' section. I saw an ad for this place, met with the owners,
viewed the property and fell in love with it, and subequently purchased it.
During that same year, I had purchased one other farm in a village located
approximately 25 km away from here also in the mountains. The other house, a
wood log cabin, is in dire need of renovation, but can be preserved more or
less in it's original form. I just don't have the time for that place right
now. That is the next project on the chalkboard. So, I came here on June, 2002
and have been here ever since. I tore down the old wooden house that once
stood, and replaced it with a new brick, stuccoed and painted one. It's a shame
that over half the logs in the former wooden house were rotting. Otherwise, it
would have been spared from destruction. Actually, I saved half of it, placing
the logs in exact order on a new foundation. So, it is now another farm
building. It's been alot of work, and I've actively participated in the entire
construction process, from mixing cement to building forms. It's a nice
                      learning experience.

I hate to bring this up, but if you calculate the range of the Iranian missile
arsenal, which is 2000 km, Malopolskie is just in range.

If you could find an identical spot in Pomerania to a place in the area of
Tarnow or Rzeszow, you would have the advantages of more access to the sea and
to lakes, and also the distinct advantage of being almost twice as far from the
      Islamic world.

Another practical advantage to Pomerania is that you can more easily pick up
English language radio while driving at night. In South Poland it is hard to
get the strongest UK private radio signal, Talk Sport, as Radio Iasi from
Romania is broadcasting on the same wavelength as the Droitwich transmitter.

In Małopolskie and Podkarpackie, we have Lake Roznów and Solina, and many less
mosquitos as well. Then throw in the number of voluptious farm girls parading
around who don't wear bras under their shirts....the advantage points are
beginning to swing in favor of Małopolskie.

They're very smart, Eugene. Apparently bras can cause lumps and fibrocystic
breast disease. Besides what's there to hide when you are still young! Bless
you and enjoy your young free life.
Boy,those good old days I used to go jogging without a bras...it was nice, felt
airy and pretty.....Those Barbie days were scarily nice back then but
unfortunately they don't last forever. Jogging without a bras today? Can't do
it - those two things would be bouncing all over the place obstructing my view
and I like to see where I am going.

To begin, you couldn't find a sufficiently identical spot to Malopolska.
Secondly, what makes you think they would target Malopolska?
Thirdly , are there more lakes in the NW than SE. You're thinking of NE?
4thly , and this may perhaps worry you (!?) there are A LOT more crazy
f***ers who wish death upon Europeans in Germany (and UK etc.) than in
Bialorus...who would you like as neighbours? (they could get you from
Berlin with a compact short range weapon)
As for English night time driving radio
I personally prefer the peacefulness of driving at night w/out radio/music,
and the sounds of the engine, whether it be a kaszlak or a beemwica.
