Indoctrination in Schools

Ecologists wanted to encourage schoolchildren in Bielsko Biała to plant trees.
The same ecologists were behind a successful and popular campaign to recycle
paper and use the proceeds to rescue horses.
It all sounds quite innocent, but according to the PiSsers it's evil and
possibly also immoral.
"No it's not," said Bielsko teachers, but what do educationalists know about
bringing up the young?
Maurycy Robak, the ridiculously named leader of the local Forum Młodych PiS
claims that under cover of ecology, these people propagate "ideologically
harmful" eastern philosophy. Like vegetarianism.

Jerzy Owsiak wants to finance first-aid courses for teachers, who will then
pass on these basic skills to pupils. He presented his ideas to a Sejm
committee. His WOŚP has already raised tens of millions of zloties for
medical equipment for hospitals and for other kinds of care for children.
This, of course, has annoyed a lot of right-wing religious maniacs, who
presumably think it's better for sick children to meet God asap, and he is
regularly attacked by Radio Ma Ryja and Nasz Śmietnik.
Maria Nowak, a PiSser from the Ministry of Education and Science, didn't even
bother listening to him, but is against the idea in principle.
The Ministry of Health seems to be generally in favour, but since Rydzyk's
people are against, then the chances of these pro-life skills being taught to
już dawno poczęte children are minimal.

Fortunately, it's not all doom and gloom in Polish education, as our taxes
continue to pay for such useful stuff as crucifixes on classroom walls and
catechists who tell teenagers that safe sex is bad.
