Next Warsaw get-together

07.04.06, 11:12
I said I'd post this last week - better late than never!

I think it's time that we got together again, and in greater numbers this time.

Some suggestions;

1. Family get-together - we could make it a late-afternoon and evening
(Saturday or Sunday), either at one of our houses (I'm quite happy to make it
at mine), or somewhere in the country. BBQ etc.

2. Evening out in Warsaw (has to be a Saturday or Sunday for me).

Dates - either the week after Easter, or the week following.

3. Both.

If there are any other ideas, let me know.

Come on guys; spring's here, so let's get the winter coats off and start
enjoying each others company!

I am not really part of your gang, but from my experience your option 2 (esp.
if it was during a week) have a much bigger chance to attract larger number of
      ppl.

        You're welcome.

I felt like going "d'ya wanna be in my gang, my gang, my gang", but then I
remembered Gary Glitter's not exactly kosher these days.

I'm up for any of these options.

Let's not stop at the coats, russh. The numbers will multiple when you take off
more things. At the end you might even wanna charge admission...
How is that for a bigger turn out?

Sounds interesting. Will there be a 'rura' and dancer as well?

Haha...you have me laughing and peeing in my knickers! First, I'll tell you how
I came up with the term, 'rura'. I recently renovated my barn here, and there
will be a large room for dancing and music. So, one day, some of my wild and
crazy neighbors came by to see my barn and asked me, "Gienek, tutaj bedzie
rura?". A large question mark loomed over my head for a moment, and then he
says to me, "Striptiz". Then, it all clicked. You know, the woman spinning
around the pipe slowly taking her bikini off? He then noticed a bunch of 10
meter long pcv pipes laying in my yard and told me to have one pipe available
for that special occasion. I told him, "Forget it...the priest here would
excommunicate me from this village". He then said, "Don't worry, he'll probably
be your first customer!" Really, I don't want to have it because every wife
will be lining up here with guns as well.
            smile

Aaaah, THAT rura. Why couldn't I think of that!

That's pretty funny. Don't be cheap on the ruras, either. Put a few of them
in ... bigger crowd and more priests. And what do you know, a priest likes the
rura too! smilesmile That's hilarious. That's not how I was thinking about priets in
Poland...I think Siemiechow was the right pick after all. I would just watch
              out for those mad wifes.

" What?! You don't like my body any more? What's wrong with it? You didn't say
that 20 years ago! Not good for you any more?! You dirty #@*&^% !!! How about I
give you one in the back of your head. Eat lead you sone of a !....
              BANG, BANG....

Nah, the rura is not good for your business, Eugene. But what the guy said is
              sure funny as hell! smile

                  excellent, Dave! I love it!

                    Dave,

Hehe...really, like kylie said, excellent! smile It does feel like a 'rura-l'
                    community here very often.

I'm up for a meeting - with lots of notice.

I suggested a meeting in Powsin but nearer may/june smile

My M&D are coming in the second half of May and Powsin is on the agenda for
them anyway, but I would like to go there in the very beginning of May as quite
a few things will already be at their best, especially the lilacs.

I also noticed that there's a new fancy restaurant opened in the Powsin area.
That might be worth a nalot. "Fulfill your culinary dreams", they want to do.

hello, am an aussie living with my girlfriend in warsaw, I am loking at meeting
with other foreigners as at this moment i do not speak polish. does anyone have
any suggestions on where to go or any groups that have formed that will help me
      achieve this, cheers.
      • varsovian Re: Next Warsaw get-together 13.04.06, 11:34
You'll find that most foreigners here are married/otherwise shackled and
disappear into Polish society leaving almost no trace behind them.
Then there are the English teachers who drift around a bit - some stay, most go
        after a year or two.
There's little in the way of a Warsaw ex pat thing, like there is in Prague for
        instance.
I socialise mostly with my Polish in-laws and the occasional Anglo-Polish
family I've picked up on my travels.
Suburban married bliss, but not exciting ... need to get out more! Help!!

Are you suggesting we get _asymylated_?

There is the so-called Pink Club, but I always thought that sounded a bit gay,
          so I never went.

well am here with my Polish girlfriend but I do not speak Polish, i hope to
rectify this but would love to meet some english speaking people, so would my
girlfriend ha ha so I do not only have to rely on her for conversation.
Am an aussie but would like to get to know any international groups that get
            together, anyone got any suggestions?
