WIELKI PIĄTEK

14.04.06, 15:04
Oto tekst godny pochwały, który zostanie wypowiedziany dziś podczas
wielkopiątkowej Drogi Krzyżowej w rzymskim Koloseum m.in. ku czci - naszego
wielkiego Polaka - papieża wszechczasów - JANA PAWŁA II WIELKIEGO - "Z krzyża
wyrasta nowe życie Szawła, z krzyża wyrasta nawrócenie Augustyna, z krzyża
wyrasta szczęśliwe ubóstwo Franciszka z Asyżu, z krzyża wyrasta promieniująca
dobroć Wincentego á Paulo; z krzyża wyrasta heroizm Maksymiliana Kolbe, z
krzyża wyrasta cudowna miłość Matki Teresy z Kalkuty, z krzyża wyrasta odwaga
Jana Pawła II".

Mother Theresa wasn't all that good at what she was doing - drawing attention
to the problem was the best thing she ever did.
The basis for her personality cult was overstated.
I think the title "Great" would be more than a bit wrong for JPII, although he
      was great.

You know what would be really cool? What would be really cool is if at least at
Easter Catholics could think of the Jesus Christ who died on the cross and not
of their fellow sinners who try, to better or worse effect, to follow Him.

If Wojtyla is even a fraction of the Christian you think he is, then he would
be insulted to know the way some people are usurping the day Christ died to
remark on him and his ministry.

I would like to help to "zresetowac" your mind on what it should be thinking
about as a Christian on this day, if you don't mind a small washing of the feet
from a protestant, and here is a beautiful poem about what happened all those
years ago on a certain Passover Friday.

is the place to hear one of the possible tunes to this moving Calvary hymn by
      Isaac Watts:

Alas! and did my Savior bleed,
      and did my Sovereign die!
Would he devote that sacred head
      for sinners such as I?

Was it for crimes that I have done,
      he groaned upon the tree?
      Amazing pity! Grace unknown!
      And love beyond degree!

Well might the sun in darkness hide,
      and shut its glories in,
when God, the mighty maker, died
      for his own creature's sin.

Thus might I hide my blushing face
      while his dear cross appears;
      dissolve my heart in thankfulness,
and melt mine eyes to tears.

But drops of tears can ne'er repay
the debt of love I owe.
      Here, Lord, I give myself away;
'tis all that I can do.

Marvellous, mighty, Gospel words. May God apply them to our hearts. Amen.

According to UEFA, it's acceptable to sing aggressive and stupid anti-Catholic
songs ("Hello, hello, we are the Billy Boys...") and shout "F*** the pope", but
only if you're a Scottish bigot at a football match.
Thanks to so-called political correctness, such sentiments would be
unacceptable in a theological, political or historical debate, where they would
      be far more relevant.
