gfunkallstars Re: Romantic weekend 21.04.06, 00:12 The Dom P in Pułtusk is lovely although the restaurant in the hotel is not so hot. It's certainly a good place for a romantic weekend. Sopot is also vey lovely. Have you thought about any of the spa towns? I don't have extensive experience (visited 3) of them but I really wish my husband would take me to somewhere like Krynica for a long weekend of pampering for our anniversary. Odpowiedz Link

sobieski010 Re: Romantic weekend 21.04.06, 10:00 Thanks for all advice guys. We recently went on a management integration weekend to an old reconverted water mill, Stary Młyn in Kletkotki (near Olsztyn) Beautiful but too expensive really if I had to pay myself. I also stayed in Podklastorze, a reconverted Cistercensian monastery near Lake Sulejów not far from Łódż. Great place for a weekend! Odpowiedz Link
jagienkaa Re: Romantic weekend 21.04.06, 20:48 I recommend Dwór Oliwski in Gdańsk, it is a really beautiful hotel with wine cellar and tea house+restaurant, situated in woods. My husband and I spent a really nice long weekend there)) www.dwor-oliwski.pl/ Odpowiedz Link
usenetposts Re: Romantic weekend 22.04.06, 01:15 Podklastorze is a lovely place, it's true. I used to stay there from time to time when I was auditing in Piotrkow Tryb before they built that Viking hotel. I have to admit that despite the simplicity of the accomodation, I had some really good nights sleep there. They even had a swimming pool, of sorts. But of course the sports hotel near Belchatow, where olympic athletes go to train, beats all in that regard. There are in fact also one or two nice place like Borki on the Sulejowski lake, towards the north of it. Near there there is also a wild bison sanctuary. Gdansk, despite some suggestions, is more than three hours drive from Warsaw, but Hotel Mlyn in Wloclawek, which gives you very good treatment for reasonable money, is another place worth considering and that can be comfortably reached in 3 hours, and on the way you can visit Plock with its hostorical parts and its zoo (a fine aquarium included) and see the Vistula at its broadest, eating on the bank at Pod Zaglami in Nowy Duninow. If you are in Wloclawek, you can take a trip to Ciechocinek, a traditional spa town near the Vistula, and near there you will find Masis on the Lodz - Gdansk road very close to the Ciechocinak turn-off, and this is a fine Armenian restaurant run by a genuine Armenian lady, and is one of the finest and best value places in the entire country. I always make a point of eating there when traveling to and from Pomerania. Odpowiedz Link

I quite like Mlynskie Kolo in Poznan. I styed there last a few nights ago, and they gave me a free supper. They have lovely colonial furniture, books on interesting topics in the rooms, good beds and good bedding, and good food. It's 290 PLN a night, which is why I don't always use it in Poznan, going for Mats, 222 or Gold Hotel, or the new campanile, but in fact it is worth the money when I can get it past my chief.
