what is Richard saying, Dave? Is that a list of the tasty classics like perogus
      and kapustam supremus?

I think it's just printer's Latin, but it may be part of the text of the vocal
music. You never know with Richard Berkeley
        • kylie1 Re: Fwdg: First Tasty Classics of the year on 10t 27.04.06, 00:16
I don't know who Richard Berkeley is (* blushing*).Son of Mr. Berkeley?
That's an expensive evening. Is it because you pay for the tasty treats or
because you really want to see Richard in person? Both?

If you think that 175 PLN is expensive, then you have to bear in mind that it
includes a three course meal from one of the country's most renowned kitchens,
accompanied to live music by the New Warsaw Chamber Orchestra.

I don't know what you would pay for the equivalent in Canada, but I don't call
            it that expensive.

You know something, this sounds like a great time! If we had 10 of us willing
to book a table, a suprise discount is also included. Dave, does the New Warsaw
Chamber Orchestra play classical music, or dance , or mixed?

It's classical, but Richard sometimes gives some impromptu music from the likes
of Cole Porter or Gershwin, which you might call semi-classical by now, at the
                end of the main programme.

I could get a discount in the order of 10% for a table of ten.

Thanks for the info, Dave. I did a little research and found out this guy was
even the White House Executive Chef under Ronald Reagan. Wow! In that case, I
              would say it's very reasonable.

When it comes to eating out, we are pretty good at finding culinary "hot spots"
that are tasty, authentic but still very affordable. The way my husband eats,
chef Richard would have to double the size of all his exquisite creations.

I think taking a few pics of his art would be a good idea, Dave.

Kylie, Richard Berkeley isn't American and he isn't the chef at the Warsaw
Hotel Bristol. He's the director of the New Warsaw Chamber Orchestra, and the
most entertaining live act in the British Ex-pat community. He also happens to
                be a friend of mine.

Aaahh...THOSE "tasty" classics. I thought it was all about food.

It's about the mix of fine food and fine music, played live.

It would be nice to have a band that includes some fine dancing music as well.
That event seems more for the listening and culinary pleasure only. Do you know
what's going to be on the menu, what sort of selection? Overall, it still
                      sounds like fun.

It now transpires that not enough people wanted to go, so it was called off.

It looks like it's not only me that has difficulty in prizing people off of
their couches to actually attend anything.

I sometimes despair of human nature, I really do.
