New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin ... said he fears the Central Intelligence Agency may take him out because he's been yelling at these officials.

He didn't say it once. He said it twice.

Last night he told a reporter for the Associated Press: "If the CIA slips me something and next week you don't see me, you'll all know what happened."
Today he told interviewers for CNN on a live broadcast he feared the "CIA might take me out."
Nagin resorted to vulgarity and profanity yesterday in his pleas for help.

Nie dla urażonej dumy, tylko dla politycznego przetrwania. To nie zabawa dla Busiow. Za mniejsze sprawy już zabijali.

Crisis threatens to swamp Bush White House

US President George W. Bush is facing a political crisis that could swamp his second-term administration and undermine support for the war in Iraq as the blame game over the Hurricane Katrina disaster starts.

Mr Bush is facing fierce criticism, even within his own party, over his administration's preparation and response to the disaster in New Orleans when levees designed to protect the below-sea-level town failed, as many predicted they would if a storm the size of Katrina swept in.

Katrina could complicate Bush's ambitious foreign policy agenda

WASHINGTON - Since Sept. 11, 2001, President Bush has put foreign policy and the "war on terrorism" at the forefront of his agenda, with broad backing from Americans.

But in the aftermath of the worst natural disaster ever to strike the United States, with stinging questions about the government's response - and worries about the effects of rising energy prices on the economy - the public appears to be demanding a change in priorities, at least temporarily.

That could crimp Bush and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's ability to press on with the president's highly ambitious foreign policy agenda, even as the administration grapples with such complex issues as the war in Iraq and Iran's nuclear program, according to diplomats and analysts.
