Or, If it weren't for you, we would have(would've)made it.

      > ******Can you give me ANOTHER TWO OF THOSE?*****-Czy jest poprawne?

"Can you give me two more of those". A little better.

Maybe not, paura. I go by how it sounds. I may be wrong. I'm not a grammar
expert. Eg. Give me ANOTHER two of those. - May be ok.
Give two more of those. - Sounds a little better to me, but it
doesn't mean you're wrong. Personally, if I were a teacher I would just give
            it to you.

I don't mean to confuse you but the sentence `Gdyby nie ty, udaloby nam sie.'
looks like the 3rd Conditional to me: past time situation + blame, hence:
`If it hadn't been for you we would have made it.'

I agree w. ines. The way she put it sounds better. Ines, you're amazing.

      It's simple:
If not you we would have made it.

        `If not you, then who?'

          Exactly!

..., but my twopence on conditionals, if I may -

          - `If it hadn't been for you...' sounds stiff and unnatural to my ear and
although you are correct in grammar terms, <Were it not for you... If it
weren't/wasn't for you, we would've made it> 'sounds' more natural. We don't
have to religiously/rigidly follow the rules on conditionals. Consider this:
If I am as clever as you say I am, I would have been rich by now.

But then, you advice is probably sounder, considering it's an exam and one in
          Poland.

          Right, shoot me!

Naah, it would be such a waste :)

Well, when we talk about past actions and their past results we should use `If
it had not been for' (or if you prefer `Had it not been for' but it's more
            formal and literaly language).

*If it hadn't been for you we would have made it.
Meaning: You did sth wrong (past) and that's why we didn't make it (past).

*If I am as clever as you say I am, I would have been rich by now.
Meaning: You say I'm clever (present!) but I didn't manage to get rich (past).

What do you say we meet half way on that with the following:
`But for you, we would have made it.' :)))

            > But then, you advice is probably sounder, considering it's an exam and one in

Aren't all UCLES examinations the same regadless a country?

              No idea! Never sat any.

Half way? That's extremely generous and very gracious of you, especially fter
              such a convincing theorising...
I'd like to go the whole way! And I do!
              I simply concede.

Convincing as it seems... but does this theory meet practice? ;)

                > I'd like to go the whole way! And I do!

Oh, we shouldn't! You see I'm married.

                For that I thank you.
