Znajomi Amerykanie zwiedzajacy skansen kolo Radomia nazywali go "Open-air
      museum".

potwierdzam. znam open-air museum, heritage park nigdy nie slyszalam,
        aczkolwiek "robi sens"!!

          znam i słyszałam oba.
          Które bardziej popularne? hm...

outdoor museum sounds fine too, ale nie bede sie upierac. W zależności od
        kontekstu można opisowo..
    • amatorski Re: Skansen po angielsku? 12.08.04, 09:07
A tak nawiasem, to skansen jest po szwedzku ;-))) Czasami się nie tłumaczy.
Heritage park chyba częściej się używa.

        skansen po angielsku?

        = Poland.

Skansen museum jak mowi moj maz (native) i slownik Stanislawskiego

Stanisławskiego to, sorry, ale na makulaturę.
Męża nie, zazdroszczę posiadania takowego, niemniej proponuję:

open air ETHNOGRAPHIC museum (or open air Polish village architecture museum)
            • mharrison Re: Skansen po angielsku? 14.08.04, 12:59
Z open air ETHNOGRAPHIC museum zgadzam sie. Proponowanej przez Ciebie formy
opisowej uzylabym w tumaczeniu tekstu skierowanego do adresata mogacego nie
              wiedziec, czym jest skansem.

Nie moge sie jednak zgodzic z Twoja druga propozycja

A punkty skupu makulatury jeszcze istnieja?

              Pozdrawiam

solidnej roboty, i to w przedkomputerowych czasach. Ale było tam sporo błędów,
no i zwyczajnie słownik się zestarzał.

                > Pozdrawiam
                Ja też :)

A ja swojego nie oddałam, bo czasami tam zaglądam, kiedy w innych nic nie mogę znaleźć i muszę przyznać, że się (rzadko, bo rzadko, ale...) przydaje.

            good.
we should all know our place.

perhaps this isn't such a novel notion, but Skansen-Poland is live and well and
with a little effective packaging and marketing could be a nice little earner
for our economically disadvantaged land. I'm not just merely talking PGRs (they
would be rural branches the HomoPRLus exhibit which would include much of
Warsaw and all other major population centres in the country).
there could be a Dark Ages network of exhibits: centres of superstition and
religious fanaticism, with mandatory Rydzyk/Jankowski audio blearing
misogynic, homophobic, anti-Semitic Xenophobia, paranoia, and all kinds of
dislocation (moral, ethical, social, etc.) Sw. Brygity in Gdansk is a good
example of suitable infrastructure. all dimly lit subterranean vaults below
churches with hate-literature bookshops and gift-shops would be considered for
            this category.

            …just a few ideas.

(there would of course be a lot of overlap between the various categories)

              quite!

              > perhaps this isn't such a novel notion, but Skansen-Poland is live and well
              and ...
              so on...

I hate to interrupt your fantasy but reality shows that with every flashy car
gained and a 1000 faithful lost neither Rydzyk nor Jankowski's vociferous self
(soon to be dispatched to silence) augur well for the bright future of the idea
              of Poland-Skansen

The Skansen-USA, however, where over 50% of voters believe that the universe
came about somewhere in the middle of the tool age, where a presidential
candidate has to pronounce his 'faith' and religious affinity to have any
chance and where Southern Baptism is going strong and stronger, making the
country a laughing stock of the civilised world... and so on...
              Just a thought.

hi again chickenshorts. thought you were on vacation perhaps.

I was. got in my SUV and made dust in the desert.

(contributing substantially to a rise in dust storms and to an increase in dust
in the global atmosphere generally, which could have serious climatic and
                health repercussions.)

the road stopped in the searing bleakness of SE Utah, at the edge of Horseshoe
Canyon. I nimbly descended down the few hundred feet of sheer, near vertical
rock, still cool from the night, to the beckoning comfort of leafy cottonwoods
and tiny little sandy beaches round the tiny little ponds left by the not very
                large recent monsoons.

what have you been up to?

I feel pangs of envy. (How did you get back up, spiderman?)

ashamed to admit but I've been up to my usual 'no good' staff... beating the
misus and watching porn between 'protest' meetings in the pub. Old habits die
hard, you know. But I am trying!

Holiday? How can I go on holiday when the world is aflame?...

that is a callous and uncalled for accusation.

How did you get back up, spiderman?

since I didn't mention that part of my adventure in the first place it should
be clear that I do not wish to have it mentioned!
