zależy w jakim kraju - w USA grading, w UK marking

Not true. You mark someone's work and award a grade. In UK.

              sorry, steph.
must've been misled by Longman's Dictionary (2002 edition) and some UK/US
              school certificates i've seen...
              ;)

Well, I don't believe that I have been mislead by my kids' school reports, GCSE
and ALevel certificates and very recent university records. Essays, tests, exam
papers etc, are marked in terms of a percentage scored, which then translates
                into a relevant grade.

                  I'm not questioning that.
Shall we say both forms are accepted then?

Oh what the hell, it's a deal
