Arrogance; French or British specialty?

16.07.05, 10:56
I want you to study one of "ours" contributors post. Does it not show high
degree of arrogance and self love? Here it goes:

"... trolls are wonderfully furry and cuddly animals, but please don't ever
ever under any circumstances give them any food. For
thought or otherwise. Because ultimately they will get bloated, expand, and
take over this board. And we have enough silliness as
it is." End.

Can't you keep you Shakespearean english to yourself an just speak plain
english, especially considering many second language speakers visiting this
forum.

      Wladek,

With all due respect to your efforts to bring up historical discussions,
please refrain from offending or provoking other users.
Everybody here is welcome to discuss whichever aspects of the english language
they like as long as the above by the above rules and netiquette.

If somebody wishes to write about shakespeare or about dialects it's their
choice to do so - you do not have to participate in the discussion or read the
post. Also if someone clicks on the red dustbin, your post will most likely be
      removed.

      regards,
      Maggie

Does UK (or England specifically) have 400 milion inhabitants on a small
        island? I seriously doubt so.
And if your ment people in US...well I lived here for 13 years and never heard
this sort of "Chinesse-master look how smart I am" eloquence. Give me a break
        • chris-joe Re: 400 mill in Britain? 16.07.05, 11:30
an estimated 400 million people use English as their mother tongue globally.

spent these 13 (!!!) years in in order NOT to learn English properly... and to
consider a proper English, hmmm, "Shakespearean"?
          • waldek1610 Re: 400 mill in Britain? 16.07.05, 11:37

As forums go, public property, mr Waldek...

And... of course, I could keep my Beckett out all hours, but would you get it?
A forum is a forum, sir!

I get it, but it bores me to death, just like mesieur Chirac is bored by
        British and Finish food...
Brits love play of words, Poles irony and stories, that's the difference
        • chickenshorts Re: your Beckett bores me to death.. 16.07.05, 11:40
          it's only me
          'thurd
          &
          'fart'
bores you? Gee, man, you are difficult to please (literature-wise, I mean)
Seriously though, what's the problem? You know, we can TRY to communicate...
          always!
          • waldek1610 to die or not to die...listening to "Becket"? 16.07.05, 11:50
            Chicken,
Can you write something that is actually funny, eloquence is ok... if you're a
            lecturer.
I think the problem is that Poles are found on self directed irony, British
            other way around...

Are you attempting to hurt me? Why, oh why... (Anything to do with poultry?)

The problem, mr W. is - the Poles are still believieng they are Poles, as if
that wasn't an obvious nonsense. What was your granny up to, when you weren't
              looking that way?
              • waldek1610 Re: to die or not to die...listening to "Becket"? 18.07.05, 06:56
                Chicken,
if I'm not a Pole, what am I a Mongolian? Don't say you ment we are European,
only people in Brusseles and Straosburg think that. Second part of
your "statement" was hopeless. Is that suppose to be funny or offending??
