      Hi,

when they opened up the Opening School I went by just to check their offer (I
      run a site on ESL - www.angielski.edu.pl - so I was in a
way 'professionally' interested). I sat a test and made no mistake (mere
fluke) - still they offered me a CAE course, as they had no CPE in offer...
Moreover, they were unable to clarify why was I placed under the maximum score
even though I happened to be infallible in this little computer test. So my
      opinion is rather low...

Don't make excuses. You went there to discredit the school, that's the truth.

        How modest.

        Good business thinking.

        They smelled rat.

So, you are their competition and your opinion cannot be trusted.

P.S. They have a nice billboard though. I like the colours.

WHAT???!!! This is quite ridiculous. I went there because I was interested in
what is their professional attitude towards newcomers. I was actually quite
          positive about them, initially.

          > How modest.
Sorry, but that's how it was. I wrote you it was a fluke.

          > They smelled rat.
          ???
          > So, you are their competition and your opinion cannot be trusted.

Sorry, but I do not run a language school so in no way could I be perceived as
their competitor. Anyway I honestly wrote about my relation to ESL. I can't
see your point, though - do you think it is fine to cheat in entry tests?

          > P.S. They have a nice billboard though. I like the colours.
Sure! Their billboards are great and so is the school physically (design,
etc.). Waht is nice as well is the availability - almost all the time you can
drop in. They also have computers prepared for you and ready for action. It is
that I am just not certain whether htey could place a student on a correct
level - isn't all learning stuff more or less about that?

No wonder! Should be... 'a rat.'!

The point is 'awalk' has personal interesr in the one you were less than
generous about! Innit, awalk? He got on your tits, didn't he?

            At least something...

In that case, I apologize, but expresions like "I went by just to check..."
or "I was in a way professinally interested..." made me suspicious

            So, you are really modest.

            > > They smelled rat.
            > ???

If you smell a (chicken's right) rat you recognize that something is not as it
appears to be or that something dishonest is happening.

I have no idea if it's fine but I think it doesn't make sense.

            > > P.S. They have a nice billboard though. I like the colours.

            I like that!

            >It is
            > that I am just not certain whether htey could place a student on a correct
            > level

I think they can, but they also need to make money, so they place students on
different levels in one group. It is a common ailment of language schools in
            Poland.

            - isn't all learning stuff more or less about that?

learning is but making money isn't

I know what it means, I do not know why you wrote that...

              > I have no idea if it's fine but I think it doesn't make sense.
It makes business sense - you do not lose the client but simply convince
him/her into taking a course that does not exactly fit his/her needs...

Yeah. That raised my objections to - and anyway, good schools should not cheat!
We must demand honest treatment, it should pay off in the long run for them as
              well!
