Where is English speaking Canada in this great linguistic divide - closer to her
European roots or to the USA? Apart from being Canadian, of course :)

I might be wrong, but I think 'supplies'is more likely to be used in the context
of office/ army/ store (but not for sale) supplies.

I'm surprised people are reversing the 's'. I've checked on Google and 'stocks
last' get about ten times more hits than'stock lasts'.

Canada is definitely closer to her US brethren than to her British mama. In
spite of numerous exceptions to the rule.
The British connection can be found in some vocabular 'peculiarities', and
occasionally in pronounciation. For instance, Canadian OTTawa and ToronTo ought
to have their T's pronounced. That it habitually does not is another matter :)
