plural or singular?

what for of a verb should I use after two or more singular nouns? e.g. meat,
rice and milk is/are good for your health

      The basic rule is that a singular noun uses a singular verb so: 'The
      meat is cooking,' or 'Rice is good for you.'

      Collective nouns such as 'team' and 'staff' may be either singular
      or plural depending on their use in the sentence.

      For eg: The staff is in the office
      The staff are in the office

        I think gerda ment something different. She wanted to know what kind
        of verb you use when you ennumerate a few singular words, just as
        she has put it in the example.

          i would say you use plural and i am nearly sure i am right, but the life is full
          of "zasadzkas" :-)

          meat and sugar are....
