alina.walkowiak 30.11.08, 10:37 Jonathan, which one would you me recommend for Christmas Songs Competitions for children age 9-12? Something nice, not very difficult, with nice music. Please :) Odpowiedz Link Zgłoś czytaj wygodnie posty
jaleo Re: Christmas carol or song 30.11.08, 15:53 When I was a child, one of my favourite carols was "Little Drummer Boy". I guess it would be easy to teach as it's slow, and the lyrics are quite simple. You can find the lyrics here: www.carols.org.uk/little_drummer_boy.htm You can find various interpretations on Youtube. One of the more unusual versions of this carol was the 1980's duet of David Bowie and Bing Crosby of all people :-) There is another version out now sung by another bizarre duet - veteran radio personality Terry Wogan and Aled Jones (of "Walking in the Air" fame). It's widely tipped to be Christmas no. 1 so I guess it's not just my favourite carol :-) I am sure children will enjoy learning and singing this one. Odpowiedz Link Zgłoś
jonathan.oakley Re: Christmas carol or song 02.12.08, 11:39 Hi Alina, My favourite is "Silent Night"..I heard it once on the BBC world Service (sung in German) late one December night whilst working abroad and it struck a chord with me. I also like the story behind it: a small Austrian church no longer had an organ (circ.1618)...the mice had eaten away all the important parts..so the priest..Father Josef Mohr..composed a song that could be played by guitar. But your question was 'an Xmas carol for children'..how about "Frosty the Snowman?" :-) Odpowiedz Link Zgłoś
alina.walkowiak Re: Christmas carol or song 02.12.08, 20:03 I love Silent Night too, but German version is my favourite :) Problem about carols is that childeren like "Last Christmas" more than carols. I think carols are too classical for them. And I have to teach them the song of Wham. In fact I really like this song and videoclip too :)) But I am going to teach the other class Stille Nacht (Silent Night) in German :) Odpowiedz Link Zgłoś
