student of some educational institution. Unfortunately, the referenced
dictionary entry does not support your point of view at all: to be present, to
appear, to frequent, etc. is not exactly the same as to study at/to be student
of.

Yes, there is Canadian flavour of English but spelling of some words
like "honour","colour", etc. is in fact English. Canadians just stick to the
original. They haven't invented it.

Mozna - przyznalem sie do niescislosci dalej w tym watku - jednakowoz brzmi to

I wrote the TRUTH!!

I never said I was perfect (well..I am, but that's whole other subject), but
I am at least living in English speaking country long enough to tell apart
polish english from english english. And I don't read polish books, I read in
english. I have contact with the language. At least SOME!! and not just
everyday street language.

And while I make no claims to know English english perfect, I KNOW that even
with my 3 !! (minor) mistakes, I wrote a decent translation.
Of course, someone who is just studying English in Poland has no way to know
the difference.
And thinks that "She is this, she is that, she goes here" etc. at the
beginning of every sentence is the proper way.
It's a polish way!
While the other translation was quite correct albeit with mistakes as well,
mine is just different.
It doesn't mean that my is, as some moron said, complete nonsense.
After all you DO KNOW what I am talking about, don't you?
First, learn english perfect yourself, then criticize!

If search the Net really hard, you'll always find some source to support your
point, even as serious as some high school in Skokie, Illinois, hehehe (BTW,
AFAIK Skokie is some kind of American Wachock). For your second source -
sorry, your kid is not going to become my English oracle any time soon, hehehe.

I checked two sources, one of them being www.webster.com and yes, it confirms
your point. On the other hand, a serious British English dictionary provides
explanation of "attend" only in the meaning I mentioned, so my feelings are
mixed. Therefore I admit that you were somewhat right. I'll keep that in the
back of my mind, however abstaining personally from the "attend" use you
presented. It sounds kind of artificial to me.

I attended a certain high school in Canada and then a certain university, and
saying that one attends these institutions is perfectly OK. In everyday,
simple language I'd probably say /ask: which school do you go to?, but in a
more formal situation I'd definitely say: which school do you attend?, thus
avoiding the "to" preposition at the end of the sentence which all hyper-
grammarians know is bad, bad, BAD English ;)

Everybody here behaved (patronized me) like English proffesors, when in fact
during correcting MY mistakes, they were making their OWN.

And every single person here failed to notice that I never in fact attempted
to make a word-in-word translation.
Please, try to understand - I knew what I was doing,
I simply thought that already Polish version was very "Ona ma to, ona ma
tamto, ona jest, ona, ona ona ona, it was so akward to me (no offence,

I just thought that I shall write what will be at least better style -wise,
and if Marta will care at all she may like my version.

I just completely disregarded the fact that she asked for translation of HER
text and wrote my own which by the way wasn't THAT BAD, even if it wasn't a
