Network airlines are raising the prices of full fares on journeys using more
than one airline by between 2 and 5 per cent to reflect the surge in oil
prices.
Agreed by a tariff conference of member airlines in the International Air
Transport Association (Iata), it will apply to the reference fares used by
carriers for travellers with itineraries using more than one airline.
Iata said the increases would apply to only a very small percentage of total
flights, but were a further sign of airlines needing to pass on some cost
increases outside their control.
The Hong Kong government yesterday approved applications by five airlines -
Cathay Pacific, Dragonair, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern and Air
China - to impose a fuel surcharge on passenger fares. Kevin Done, London
