Toyota to boost manual transmission output in Europe - report
06.05.2005, 06:58 AM
TOKYO (AFX) - Toyota Motor Corp plans to raise its production capacity for
manual transmissions in Europe by 30-50 pct to more than 800,000 units a
year, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported, without citing sources.
Toyota produces manual transmission systems at a plant in the UK and at one
in Poland, with a combined output capacity of about 550,000 units.
Meanwhile, the company expects its production capacity for automobiles in
Europe to grow from the current roughly 775,000 units to around 830,000 in
2007 due to the construction of a new plant in Russia and an output increase
in Turkey, the newspaper said.
