BACKGROUND:

ARQUITECTUM is the first company dedicated to
promoting the discussion of ideas, concepts and
paradigms in architecture around the world. Our
mission is to promote excellence in design and
creativity to help the spread of new ideas in
architecture. Our vision includes not only the
management of private architectural projects but
also that of Idea Contests that stimulate
speculation and creation with the least amount of
restrictions possible and set in the most
interesting, cosmopolitan and renowned cities in
the world.

Following this tradition, we organized in 2004
the successful "MACHU PICCHU 2004" Contest in
which more than 500 architects from around the
world participated. In 2005 the "NAZCA 2005"
Contest involved almost 1,000 participants. Our
first "THE GLOBAL HOUSE - 2005" contest follows
the same principles but is oriented towards
students and baccalaureates in architecture and
all architects younger than 28 years old.

INTRODUCTION:

ARQUITECTUM, in its desire to offer each year new
challenges that cover current and avant-garde
themes, has selected "THE GLOBAL HOUSE - 2005"
as the theme for its 1st International Contest
designed for students, baccalaureates and
architects younger than 28 years old from around
the world. Our desire is to collect the best
ideas about what houses ought to be like in this
current Global Village, researching and
incorporating aesthetic, plastic, functional,
technological and even social patterns that may
be part of the particular context in which the
contestant is currently in.
