Description:
Position:
• Install, configure and maintain the PCs and associated peripheral hardware.
• Perform hardware and software fault diagnosis and repair.
• Liaise with third party organisations to ensure timely and effective
repairs to
equipment and services.
• Implementation of new and upgraded ICT hardware, services and strategies.
• Monitor and secure the central ICT systems, such as the servers and network
infrastructure, to ensure that they operate optimally.
• Monitor and secure the usage of the Internet to ensure its efficiency and
adherence to the Company’s policy regarding security and appropriate use.
• Carry out regular data management tasks, including backups or the removal
or archival of redundant data, to ensure that appropriate use of the
Company’s resources and security of information.
• To provide technical advice to other staff where necessary.
• To work co-operatively with other staff to ensure the overall objectives of
the Company are achieved.
• To liaise with suppliers, contractors and consultants as required.
• To deputise for the IT Manager where appropriate.
• To undertake any other reasonable duties at the discretion of the IT
Manager.


Skills Required:

Qualifications:
Microsoft certified qualification or training
Novell certified qualification or training

Experience
Minimum 3 years practical experience in an IT Environment
• Installation, configuration and maintenance of PC’s and associated
peripheral hardware.
• Previous experience in an educational environment
• Previous experience in a Help Desk environment

Knowledge
Microsoft Windows networking
• TCP/IP networking
• Microsoft Windows 2000/2003 Server including Active Directory and Group
Policy
• Microsoft Windows versions 98/Me/2000 and XP
• Microsoft Exchange Server 2000/2003
• Microsoft IIS Internet Servers
• Microsoft Office
• Setting up and configuring client PC’s using RIS technology or similar
• Wireless Networking
• Sonicwall Firewalls
• Internet Security
• Novell Netware and Groupwise

Skills and Ability
Demonstrate a methodical and organised approach to data and security
